Thanks for the advice. I thought if I can't handle F1-F3 + another paper, it would mean I would not be able to handle 3 tougher papers next time.

My choices for the level 2 paper are F6, F7, F8 and F9 because SAA have lessons on weekends. It seems F6 is the least dependent on F1-F3.

Finished F1/2/3.

I'm taking F4/5/7 for next sem. Left out F6 as I thought it is less related and can be taken after my F4/5/7.

Signing up anytime this week, more likely at Kaplan. Part-time.

I think it will be better if u are able to clear F1 faster. Can be done in one month. So u have one less thing to worry about.

Anyway, F6 is not easy. Better find a good tax teacher.

i noticed kaplan offers only lectures but SAA offers both lectures and tutorials (got to pay a little extra for tutorials). Also, SAA lectures are longer (about 4hours for day classes) relative to kaplan's 3 hours (is it cos of longer breaks?). Finally, SAA rates are lower relative to kaplan's.. im just keen to find out more about both before deciding on one..

anyone care to share if SAA or kaplan's way of teaching is better? or perhaps share ur experience with either provider. hee thanks! :o

Its really hard to say because it depends on the lecturer. Longer lecture generally means more time to explain some concepts so u can absorb better. But longer lecture also means going home later and more tired the next day.

I feel it is more important to decide on who is the lecturer than the school. of cos if location is not a problem to you.

I just registered for the ACCA membership so I prob can only register for exams around early Sept. So I guess the earliest I can take the CBE is Nov.

I should be taking lessons from Goh Sher Wee. Is he good?

is F1 really so easy ?

I always think that a good lecturer is very important. So I've been observing the recommendations generally here.

Yes, F1 very easy if you have a good lecturer, a keen heart to listen and to study when near exams. Took me 2-3 days of intense revision, think I can get pretty well, lol... but F3 a bit haywire, I don't wanna blame any1, but it wasn't as successful as my 2 other papers which have better teachers.

Sometimes also quite hard to get the "Best" of lecturers from different institutions and wanting the more modules discount, haha.

Hi Hongge,

Wld appreciate if u can advise: I've only completed F2+F3. Signed up for F1+F5. Sequence plan is : F1+F5 -> F4+F9 -> F6+F7 -> F8+P1 -> P2+P3 -> P5+P6/P7. I may hv a 2 yrs gap fr F5->P5. Do u think it'll be v difficult to cope wif P5 after 2 yrs? Tks in adv for ur adv.

some syllabus change transition students took P5 without F5 and passed and many ppl commented P5 is the more manageable option paper among the four. F5 syllabus is rather fixed, it does not change much in 2yrs time. so i believe it is similar for P5.

if you are afraid that 2yrs gap is too wide, why dun u change ur sequence to F1+F4 follow by F5+F9?

Please be mindful that if you want to become a practicing CPA, p7 advanced audit is complusory.

Although I dun really like Audit subject as it is quite hard, I think it will be a safer bet to choose P7 as optional paper. Because of the CPA requirement.

I think audit is really one of the easiest subjects around. A lot of people find it hard because they cannot comprehend the concept of "auditing". And the over complicated and fancy terminologies don't really help the cause. You can actually try Opentuition.com. They explain the subject in very clear and concise, and digestable terms. I passed F8 listening to their audio lectures. It really helps a tremendous lot.
