Erm, for my case, I

make sure I attend all lecture and understand every principle (to grasp the essence)

Before exam, redo questions and memorise some key principles.

When you mean redo question does that mean covering all question found in the revision kit?

Congratz..! :)

can share some tips how you prepare for exam? especially P3

Always do a mind-mapping of the whole syllabus and read through prior to exam. Like this you will understand an overview and will not be overwhelmed by the subject. And also read the Qns 1st before you read the exam qns' scenario or mini scenario.

And for myself, attending classes is a must and make sure u grasp the principle/concept/model/understanding of the subject matter by the lecturer. U pay and make sure u get your $$ worth.

As I'm the lazy type, i only revise 2 weeks before exam. Spend max 3/4 days per paper. 1 day is used to read/revise the whole lecture notes (refresh) and for the next 2/3 days is to whack/re-do past year exam qns. (mainly those in class) So u will know the examiner's way of questioning and answering/scoring technique. And revise more on exam Qns that have not been tested recently.

And before i start my revision, i usually spend a few days to unwind(gaming/relax/laze around)myself from hectic audit work and be mentally prepared for self-crash course revision.

Hope these helps but dun be so laid-back like me, take 1 month leave to study, and spend 2.5 weeks play and only left 1.5 weeks to revise 4 papers. Hell...:s22:

For P3, do a overview of the main syllabus into Strategic Position, Strategic Choice and Strategic Action. And also related chapters namely IT/IS, Biz Change Process, Quality, Project Mgt and HRM plus some financial like ratios, etc.
For each headings, list down and have an understanding of the model/concept/ideas so you will know the specific model to apply to the exam question and concentrate to answer what is required and expand your examples. As for the related topics in P3, Concentrate on those that have not been tested recently (Spotting of Qns, may backfired, but works for me from old syllabus 2.1 to P4 & P7)

Have fun studying!!:D

I only redo those qns gone through in class by the lecturer.

I dont use text book or revision kit. I prefer the lecturer's notes and answers.

Revision kit answers are impossible to mimic, and my brain only remember simple english under pressure.

Its not only about me, all the lecturers that I have attended are so great. They gave me pressure to study, simplified notes to revise and brought joy into my studies. :o

Yup, same for me. Use what u have attend in classes for revision as it has been simplified and easy to apply.

Understand the main point of the answer, so that can apply and write it even when the Scenario/Qns is twisted but you know what the examiner's require of you in the exam.

Using those text-book, revision kit is kind of alien to me and wasting time to re-understand the answers. And you may be confused to what was taught in class.

Syllabus is wide, so simplicity and understanding is utmost important.

Using your own words to express the answer is better than memory work in 3hrs of pressure.

My last Paper - P4: 50

Put in lot of effort for this paper but i still feel that as if i never study the exam. The question set by the examiner was very unique , one of a kind and caught me by surprise

Same feeling, i thought will fail and full of question marks after P4 exam.
June 09 P4 exam is way out of coverage and definitely caught candidates by SURPRISE with not much emphasis on adv. financial mgt issues. Bob Ryan is a trying to make himself to be replaced soon....

See Examination Review Board comment on P4:

"Paper P4 was a difficult and technically poor paper allowing students little chance to prove their P4 knowledge. Questions did not relate to core P4 material. The poor syllabus coverage makes it difficult for students to prepare for this paper. Questions 1 and 5 were more of F9 content, with a twist, rather than core P4 topics. Question 3 was considered strange and Question 4 was common sense. Only Q2 would be considered reasonable."

May I know where u attend your lecture? I am currently taking F1,F2 & F3 in Kaplan. My frends all say that Kaplan is very expensive compared to SAA. For me from what I attended at Kaplan, the lecturers are good and they explain very clearly.

P4 syllabus is good and enable you to really know financial mgt aspects in depth. However, with current examiner, it's not advisable to take for passing.

F6 must buy latest ones as there are some important changes to the syllabus. You can verify with the F6 lecturers.

Anyone had an comments which P2 Lecturer should i continue? Sami or Goh Sher Wee?
I am quite confused which class should i enrol as i had stop ACCA for quite some time.
I did attend Goh class and revision in Year 2007 and attend Sami class in Jan 2009 classes.
For this Dec 2009 Exams , i am taking the P2 exams. Should i just enrol for Sami's revision class only? Or Should I go for Goh Classes and revision?

This i agree with you , the examiner is setting question that come from outerspace. It is definitely one of the worst exams i have taken throughout my 14 ACCA exams

Definitely, i simply just write with whatever knowledge, concept, common sense answers i could use with lots of assumption and smokes...:o

The Qns are definitely from outerspace as it do not examine the core P4 topics.

Instead it give us a load of non-core adv. FM Qns which do not relate much to our studies and practical usage.:s22:
