Hi all, I failed P1 the last exam sitting..Any tips on how to pass P1? Who is the best lecturer for this subject? Many thanks in advance

Anyone had an comments which P2 Lecturer should i continue? Sami or Goh Sher Wee?
I am quite confused which class should i enrol as i had stop ACCA for quite some time.
I did attend Goh class and revision in Year 2007 and attend Sami class in Jan 2009 classes.
For this Dec 2009 Exams , i am taking the P2 exams. Should i just enrol for Sami's revision class only? Or Should I go for Goh Classes and revision?

it is better to enrol for a lecturer whom u are familiar with his style. since ur more recent class was with sami, then probably it is better to stick to his class and style.

go for both class and revision for p2. it is a tough paper. if u have budget constraint den u have decide whether u want to sign for cheaper option or forgo the revision class

tip? master the sg code of corporate governance is very important. u may wish to try dominic from kaplan. he is very fast in his class which u will be able to learn more things. but his handwriting cannot make it.

if u prefer a slower pace, can try roy goh. he make his lesson very simplify and notes are tidy

Thanks for you quick reply.
From my understanding , Sami is good as he did cover those theory questions and taught the steps on how to approach the questions.
However , I am not very used to Sami consolidation technique. I prefer Mr Goh consolidation technique (i learnt my Paper 2.5 from Mr Goh).
That why I dunno which lectuerer to sign up for the next coming exams. Any advice? many thanks in advance.

sami's consolidation style is not hard, in fact save more time in working. but if u are more comfortable with mr goh's style, then u already have an answer, dont u =)

i tink you are right that i should stick with Sami style since my recent class is under him.
Maybe I just lack of the practice to understand his style.....

business times( onine free after 6pm), the economist(free online, weekly magazine), the student accountant ACCA, business section of Straits Time.

To pass exams... attend class and revision, practice exams questions.

enrol for Chee Hay Keong class, heard he is able to teach good technique for audit papers

i personally took Connie's class. used her style to pass the paper as follows:

1. define the FRS being tested
2. describe what did the co did wrong
3. recommend corrective action for the co

structure ur ans straight to the point and dun bother to write so long story. a gd lecturer who is able to guide u on how to ans different type of audit qs is the key to pass the paper. my experience with Connie was gd

Hello.

I need some advices from those who are already working in Audit/Accounting departments. May I know what other skills besides ACCA knowledge is important and helpful, basically a plus point?

For e.g.,

Excellent Excel knowledge. (is it really important? or just the basics will do. are "data management" "data manipulation" skills needed, macros in Excel & Pivotcharts and such?)

Any other knowledge you may suggest, maybe economics or management. I realised some modules in ACCA actually cover a little on other fields.

Go through your textbook and memorise the important sections of the ITA. Namely, Sections 10, 14, 15, 18, 19, 19A, 24 and 35.
