Honestly, I guess once the confidence is established for a particular lecturer it would be hard to go to another person. I am personally inclined to follow the lecturer rather than the school. I really like the study environment in Kaplan rather than some other schools. But honestly the facilities and amenities can only go that far. It still comes down to how well delivered the lecture is and how the lecturer is gonna engage the student and motivate them.
I heard some comments from friends that took other 'not too popular' lecturers in Kaplan and they were rudely disappointed with their delivery. So as much as Kaplan promises that their new batch of lecturers are experience and would be able to be as good as those great lecturers that have left recently, I felt it is very market gimmicky, students are at the losing end ultimately.
Kaplan do not have the final responsibility or rather the students pay the price for incompetent lecturers. Anyway its still too early to tell whether the new ones are good or not, comments from students who enrolled with the new lecturers would prove whether Kaplan indeed do what they say they do. I believe in giving the new lecturers a chance, but honestly I really don't like to take that chance.
I feel the same way - once a certain tutor earned my trust and confidence I'd try to stick to them. Moreover, in this particular case I really don't see how Kaplan can replace an entire team of their best lecturers and still stay on the same level...
Also, I thought about 70niner's comment:
huh?? why the exodus from kaplan?
with the exception of yvonne, i've taken classes by the rest n i only hv praise for them~~![]()
Why is the exodus from Kaplan? It is unusual, to say the least, to see your top tutors leave all of a sudden and I was wondering if it had anything to do with Kaplan's situation in the USA. So I dug deeper.
As you may know, Kaplan Inc has been under much criticism in the past few years (for its dodgy recruitment tactics, discrimination, etc...) and there are currently a few pending lawsuits, including a federal one, against it. As a result, student enrollment levels have declined and so did profits (Wall Street Journal news item from May 11, 2011, "Kaplan University Gets Document Request From Massachusetts AG").
The question is, do you think Kaplan's international operations are going to suffer? And is it possible that Sami, Yvonne, Roy, and Domnic are just leaving a sinking ship? Or is this just one big conspiracy theory that I made up for myself?
Would love to hear your opinion on this.
