Wa..i didnt know he so competent! :s13:But Sami is staying put at LSBF to teach rite??? But i m taking F4 n F6 first...which sch should i choose then? Oh i wanna ask for instance, if I study F4 n F6 in Kaplan, but professional papers i wish to study in SAA...is it possible?? Is it must incur more fees? Pls adviseee

Not really, i have studies in 3 schools so far (SAA/Kaplan/LSBF) and in fact last semester I studied in both Kaplan and SAA simultaneously. Maybe slightly more in terms of registration and the fact that you cannot get the multiple-paper fee discount but other than that there is not a significant difference between in modular fees between the different schools. Just switch whenever you feel like it like what everybody else does. For me, I put significant weightage on the calibre of lecturer rather than the school itself.

hi peeps..
I heard alot of raves on Sami, can I know what is he good in and for which papers?
Which is a better sch to be considered for taking ACCA..
Is LBSF a good choice? From what I know it just started in Jun'11, I am still sceptical towards this new school, any one can give some opinions on the schools if I wanna take F4 , F6 and the Professional papers.

Thanks alot.

LSBF has a seriously screwed up+clueless admin (they messed up my registration/student card and have yet to resolve it) and in almost every administrative sense is far worse than Kaplan, which I rate as the best admin-wise among all the schools I have attended. In fact, they did not even bother to bind the lecture notes nicely like what Kaplan does, and if you are a lady, expect incredible queues at the washroom during the break due to the lack of cubicles.

If you can deal with all the non-academic crapness, than I guess you can sign up with LSBF, but maybe you should stay out of the ones that Sami is not teaching for now. For one thing, F4 class has not even started. The school is so tiny that they do not have enough space for all the evening lessons if they cover all the modules. (I'm taking F5 and F7 and for both papers all the available classrooms were filled with the students taking the same module) I'm not sure that the rumours that Yvonne is teaching F6 is true as she is not listed on the website even yet but if it is she is an effective tutor. Even so Joanne from Kaplan is just as good IMO.

hi guys.. i just enroll with SAA part time for the ACCA F1. However, i found on the net that this SAA lecturer isn't exam focus. Hence, i am concerned that i may fail my F1. Since i have already paid the fee, i have no choice but to continue with the SAA F1 course. Thus, i would appreciate if anyone can recommend books for me to study on to improve my chances of passing F1. Thanks..

F1 is really easy, just read through your whole BPP text book and do the exam kit yourself. Don't worry, it's very hard to fail the module if you do at least a couple hundred of the questions in the exam kit.

Hello to all acca students

I have just recently applied for the icpas registration and I believe it will take 3 months for me to get the comfirmation before I can take the exams. Hopefully I will be able to register for the december exams in time.

I have some questions for the acca seniors:

1) How much does the f1 - f3 books cost? I heard I can get them in the popular bookstore? I found the online version for the bpp study text here : filesonic.sg/folder/680381

Are the pdf files up to date with this years december examination? I don't want to study something that is obsolete. From what I see in the 400 pages + pdf file, the study text is used for exams in december 2009 and june 2010.

2) I plan to study f1, f2 and f3 on my own. Is it too much to ask for since I only have got 5 months to prepare for the examinations? My friend adviced me to study and take the examinations for f1, f2, f3 and f4 at one go. He says that since I have some accounting background, I should be able to pass them.

3) I find many acca notes and study materials here: filesonic.sg/folder/71b55e291ace2973f

Anything useful to help me to study and revise? Or are those all obsolete and I should go purchase the latest textbooks?

4) Is acca a professional cert that has a higher percentage of females as compared to males? My mum was telling me not to venture into accounts because it is mostly female dominated, lol.

Lastly, I wish all acca students good luck.

Hi guys, I am currently learning F4 in SAA, TPK class. As of now , his lectures are good, but I am afraid for my exams. How will be exam be like? He hasn't really exposed us to any questions, just lectures lectures lectures. I am feeling a little uncomfortable... :(

Is it normal for me to feel like that? or have I chosen the wrong lecturer?

hi k.a.e.e.l.

I'm also in TPK class. his schedule did allocate tutorial days. I think that's when he'll go through the questions.

iirc, there will be a catch up classfor those that register late. but it wont be in much details. F8 is a 100% theory paper and its stand alone, so i guess u need to read a lot about the text book yourself

i took Kweh class last time, which is also about the same. in fact they are lawyers, not full time lecturers, so their teaching style would be a bit different. in fact queh only spend 1hr to talk about exam, but i still passed with 79 marks. just know the exam format will do: 10 queations of 10 marks each, may or may not be sub divided, 7 of them theory, 3 case study.

1: i doubt they sell it publicly, but u can buy from the school. however, i wont recommend it because it is too expensive. the best way to get a copy is to buy HERE. yes, post your subject and text required, and buy from students who are having the same syallabus and finished the paper. there are text, lecture notes, exam kit, revision notes and answer and pocket notes, which the first 3 are bundle together, and the last two are subjected to whether students took the revision class.

2: F123 are multiple choice iirc, while f4 is a standalone theory based paper. your accounting background should help you much in F2 &F#, but F1 and F4 do require you to memorise a lot. technical level wise is rather minimal, but you need to memorise a lot if u are planning to self study.

3: i havent seen the link, but only BPP and Kaplan are official publisher of ACCA. since u are doing self study, the text book, lecture notes and exam kit will be the 3 most important books for you.

4: ACCA is a result based professional qualification, it doesnt matter what gender you are in. accounting however, has more female than male.

the last time i call up the schools to enquire abt the sales of books..they wont sell to u unless u r enrolled into their courses

Hello.I am actually at a dilemma whether to continue acca studies or to pause for a couple of years before continuing. Do anyone knows whether if i still need to pay the annual membership fees if i decide to pause my acca studies for a few years before i continue? If i continue after a few years later, will the modules i took in the past be forfeited? How much will be the penalty fees if i decide to stop for 3 years? Appreciate your inputs. Thanks

there is no penalty for you to stop taking acca. but in order to continue being a member of acca, u must still continue to pay the annual fee.

if u however choose not to continue there is no extra cost. but when u re-take up acca again the re-take up membership would be more expensive the first time round.
