I heard ACCA and CIMA like not fully recognised by the new CA singapore. Why new students still taking?

Shouldn't new student go for a degree first? or you are foreigner, with no intention to work in sg after graduation?

i think many are still doing NS and cant afford to go for classes for their FT degree. So in a way to best utilise their time during NS, they studied ACCA. There then after NS, they will study both ACCA and a degree in other discipline concurrently. I did ACCA during NS too but due to the workload didnt manage to go for a degree, but currently taking up a PT degree in Management, as i still think ACCA qualification only teaches you the very technical part of accounting and you will still need a degree to have a more well rounded education that enable you to see the other side of a business as in a more broader view than just from an accounting prespective.

Q

Well, this depends on your personal learning abilities. How good are you at memorising lots of dry information by yourself? If you have a diploma in finance you should have a few exemptions, do check what exemption you have first.

The courses that lectures tend to not be so useful with => F1, F2, F3 and P1

Right now F4 Law is MCQ based, so you can risk and not go for class, but if you fail because of lack of knowledge its on your head. The lecturer who is teaching makes a huge difference too, if they know what they are doing, listening and attending lectures will half the work you need to put in.

Hello, I am serving NS now and planning to take ACCA this coming June, I have yet to register but not sure if i should take up lectures.
I am exempted for F1 only because of my business diploma.

I read that F1 to F4 is computer based and MCQ? Does it mean i can take them any month of the year? (instead of jun and dec only) and since its MCQ does lecture makes a big difference?

Also i know i can take up to 4 paper at once, but how many do you experienced people think is appropriate?

How much roughly do i have to spend in total? including lectures, revision, materials, membership fees, etc.? Cos my NS allowance is only $480, thus the concern.

Please advise.
Thanks

Actually revision is not necessary. Lectures + exam alone is around $600~$800 per paper for the fundamental papers.

3-4 papers at fundamental is possible but still depend on individual effort. Since you are alien to the exam technique and format, I would not recommend taking 4 papers on first go. Try out 3 papers first and see if you can cope.

Hi,

Usually what score will make you qualify as a prizewinner? I scored 91 for F5, is it good enough?

ACCA F6 Textbook

Just check with Kaplan and LSBF and they no longer sell Textbook, pocket notes for F6 seperately. Probably due to the SGP Variant

Anyone here selling any textbook, lecture notes for ACCA F6 June 2015 sitting? Interested to buy.

Thanks

The school where you took your f5 class will inform you. If you have done self study for it then you will not be informed. ACCA does not do that, only the school will, because they need to do their marketing

Hi,

Yup I self-studied for F5.

If ACCA would not inform us, then how to receive the prize?

By the way even though I took my exam in Singapore, my residential address is Malaysia. Maybe that is why I did not win the prize?

Possible that you are grouped as malaysian candidate. You notice that list is for sgp ranking ? only World prizewinners will be notified by Acca. local winners are awarded by schools for marketing purpose. Strictly speaking winners are glorified by the school. ACCA doesnt bother

Anyone can share the exam tips for P1 and P2?
Thanks in advance.

Hey, good news bros!!! you will be keen to know that bpp@m2 just released a series of FREE  exam"top-tips" videos. there's P2 revision recordings, exactly what you need, amongst some other papers. i'd say this school has been the most generous amongst all the others, almost like giving out free lessons.
