i'm actually concerned about QC too, the reviews on reddit and amazon really got my second guessing
worst are those that die < 1 year later
Here we go again. I believe I've mentioned in a post in the past. It seems that our version of the XB271HU cannot be compared to that of the US version. We seem to have less monitor problems than them. Your best option to understand what the XB271HU is like is by looking at reviews and experiences from people in Asia and Singapore that has used this monitor like the many people who uses this monitor from this thread. You know why this thread is so quiet? Because there are no longer any issues with the monitor after a firmware upgrade by Acer. And I've used this monitor for more than a year now. And can say that it is a great purchase.
When compared to Asus, if you buy the XB271HU now, chances are, you'll be getting a version with even more latest panel than the one Asus is using.
To add to the pros of the XB271HU, it has a very nice bezel-less design when compared to the Asus counterpart.
And then when it comes to price, Asus is more expensive because you are practically paying for the brand as well as advertising and marketing for the monitor.
So yup.. In the end, please ask any of the users of this monitor here. I think most of us has had this monitor for at least a year now and have little to no issues with this monitor for the past few months seeing the lack of posts on this thread for a while.
this is definitely reassuring because i was lurking for a while and it seemed like the "good batch" was from august 2016 onwards
but nonetheless all seems good; where would you recommend me to make the purchase though? currently i see hachi with the cheapest price, how do they handle exchanges if touch wood i need to make one? i heard good things about gamepro as well but their price can't match hachi even with the qoo10 coupons

will a gtx1070 be good enough? or should i venture into 1080?
just hoot from VideoPro at 916 after 100 off 600 and 2% store (min 500) coupon
how is video pro's exchange policy like?
Acer normally got no 1 to 1 exchange policy.
They will repair for u.
They will only exchange if your set cant be repaired successfully.
Source : My X34 had coil whine. VP say they dont have the power to let me 1-1 exchange even though it is still within 7 days. Made an appointment with Acer, they tried to repair but the coil whine is still there. Finally they bring a new set for me to exchange.
edit : and my new set still has coil whine but i think i lazy repair/rma already.

Tested on $1k GC before.Anyone claim warranty for this monitor before? I lost my receipts. But I did register my product online before.

Hi. I recently had my monitor being sent to Acer to get the firmware updated. All I can say is no receipts needed. Anyway, due to the nature of my work, and Acer's updating device being shared with Malaysia, my firmware update only took place last month. Beyond one year of purchase and Acer doesn't even care.
Firstly, they'll send a technician to see what the problem is and verify that it has to be sent back to the factory. Then next time, they'll come and collect your monitor to have it updated and get it sent back to you in 2-4 days. Quite a smooth customer service experience I might add since mine was sent back to me on a Saturday too.
Here's what the customer service officer asked of me via email:
1) Contact person:
2) Contact number:
3) Alternative contact number (e.g. mobile number if any):
4) Full address with postal code (where the computer is currently located):
5) Serial number of computer:
Thank you very much for your reply and detailed explanation of the procedures. I had email them this morning but haven get their replies. Hope they will get back to me very soon.
