Thanks! Lucky havent go there try. Waste time meeting snobbish staffs and mediocre CIEM :D

The plaza sing outlet was ok. The staff was very friendly to me and friend even though we just went there to try stuff and not buy.

ok, so today finally got off from army...

Went to bedok to try rhines, the price really no joke but stage 4 was very lackluster in general with stock cables, got to try aftermarket cables as one of the shop assistant kindly offered me. It really allowed it to shine but still it does not perform up to the standards of the K10.

Went to jaben, basically tried almost all the customs. Notably, JH Roxannes were nice but there is a frequency range, probably the lower mids that sounded like a ball of mess to me. The JH13FQ were nice but it is in general a level below the K10 in terms of frequency response(is this even the correct term). The MH334 were brilliant just that the treble was just so slightly rolled off. Couldnt really clique with the Vision Ears Stage 6 in both switch selections. Couldnt clique with the ACS T1 as well.

Went to Null Audio to try the LSX that Aegis Yeo kindly left there, very flat on almost all frequency range and might get a little boring after a while. Aegis also mentioned to me about the narrower soundstage which i initially failed to recognised. But indeed, on classical songs the soundstage did seem narrower. Also tried the Hidition NT-6 and the RM, didnt really like the sound signature.

I happened to listen to the Earsonics S-EM6 at AVone, not very impressive though, the UERM is still the best of the lot at AVone. However im afraid due to its analytical nature, it might become very fatiguing to listen to in the long run.

Lastly, went to Stereo, tried the Mentor, Merlin, and Miracle. For their BA setups, they were great, but there was something about them that made the palm muting in my songs disappear in the mix, they were there but i had to search for it. The Mentor is very nice but that small problem was a bummer, i love to listen to the guitar so i really find this annoying. I found the soundstage of the Mentor to be similar to the LSX, correct me if im wrong.

Im gonna listen to the K10 again to see if it will succeed where others have failed.

Please do offer your valuable advice, i might be wrong in some places so pls do share and offer your insights.

I'm pretty much convinced by the k10. However the mentor and the mh344 stands very close to it. Can't seem to really decide. The um has slightly harsher trebles on poorly mastered tracks, and the mh334 doesn't have the treble extension of the k10. What should I factor in now? And when I go for a re listen, what should I listen out too?

what source are u using?
What should you listen to is base on your own music preference.
Some ppl like bass, then they go for bass heavy sig and they dont mind if treble is too much or too little.
So you just need to consider what you like most will do

Hi rubick, thanks for chiming in. I'm using my iPhone 5, used to have a corda 2 step dance but it died. Might look for a new dap when my iPod dies. I guess I'll like my ciem to be as all rounded as possible, not sacrificing any frequency for others. Thanks for your advice

The most rational thing is to go for the one you like by how you hear them to be. Even if pple tell you that you should listen to this, to that etc, so what if you find the k10 for eg not as "much" or "less" than another one? That's just one of many technical aspects. Most important is you enjoy the music from it. Unfortunately i think many pple are not so rational when deciding which one to go. They are influenced by peer opinions, brand status, and others. Sometimes i am guilty of some of these as well:D

You should have in mind the few choices that you wanna get already.
Probably you should go for a final audition again on those few, then make your decision. Use the same tracks that you are familiar with when doing audition on them. If you need to, probably write down the pros and cons of them somewhere. Then at the end of the day go and tabulate and see which one fits you better.

Imo, using the iphone5 as source might not be a good thing, some earphone shine more on better source. So you might not be hearing the potential of those earphone with a iphone5. Perhaps you should try using those dap that are available in the shop to do the demo. Bring a microsd card filled with your familiarized songs.

Do take long duration listening into consideration.

Reason I own the 334 is because of it's lush timbre and slightly laid-back signature, which can wear it for hours without causing fatigue to my ears.

If I want the amazing "wow" factor with on face extended treble signature I would go for the UERM, which I don't think I can't wear for long. (I get headache easily from too much treble)

things about getting a ciem is that there are always goods and bads of a particular model, then i will like some aspect of one model but certain aspect of it will pale in comparison to another model. but if i want to get a ciem, i really want to spend on one that will which totally fit to my preference. which explains until now i only settle for low budget iems.

You could try the 1964ears V8. It was pleasant to my ears. It has a slightly laidback sig. But it depends on your love for bass. The V8 is slight bass-boosted. The UE11 is not bad either, extended with a hard hit on the bass too.
