That's why I recommend you go morning market, many nice foods there but too bad you landed in the afternoon.

Every place that is recommended online and travel guides are overrated bah.

I agree the food is overrated but it is still a good one stop place where you get most of the penang hawker food if you are pressed for time and unable to hop around to eat the best.

"Best" is also subjective... some food also hard to maintain consistent standard or QC...

I just got back from Penang recently. Weather is really hot at the moment - the day that I went Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si Temple were the most tiring due to the heat.
Food is really delicious and quite cheap. Took Grab around when we couldn't tolerate walking in the heat anymore - the most we paid for airport to Georgetown was around RM20-24, around Georgetown and Gurney area was RM6 for short trips. Also tried the free CAT bus around Georgetown which was quite comfortable and convenient.

new there. want to ask any nice hotel/resort with clean beach and clear water not too far away from city? budget up to $200 per night.

Clean beach and clear water are at Batu Ferringhi which is 30min away in the best of road conditions.

The beach area is at Batu Ferringhi.The main attractions and food are in Georgetown. So if you stay near the beach, you will need to travel to and fro a few times. BTW Penang don't have clear beach.

Any one know whether either of the G hotels have adjacent rooms with door that can be opened to connect the rooms ?
