Advice on Penang

i reaching penang airport at 5pm. settled down probably 6+ already
any suggestion where can i visit and things to do?

Try out street food, they are every where

I use grab within Georgetown, about 5-8rm per trip depend on distance.
Penang hill and kek lok si, grab may be very few.

Kek Lok Si is a bit difficult to grab so must be patient and wait.
Penang Hill quite convenient.

Anyway can anyone explain what is the appeal of Penang Hill?
Overcrowded and nothing much to see overlooking the city.
Regret going.

You can visit the avatar secret garden for some Instagram shots. But also not a must-go thing.

Nothing much, only the view overlooking the city is worth it.

Penang Hill is worth the while if you don't have to brave the crowds to go up. There is a splendid bird's eye view of the island and its western part which is forested to the sea. The furnicular is one of the few in south-east asia.

The funicular ride is good but the management is lousy.

Hi, first time visiting Penang. Would it be better to take the train or coach from KL? I read that the walk from Butterworth railway station to the ferry terminal in Penang is quite long, although it's connected via Penang Sentral. Travelling with an elderly person so trying to minimise very long walks with luggage.
Looking to stay in Georgetown, preferably near good food (not Gurney). Besides Cititel, any other hotels near good food? 3 to 4 star hotel is fine. I saw mentions of Kimberly Street and Chulia Street but can't find the specific posts already.

Stayed at Sunway hotel, just next to the hotel is the New Lane Street with quite a number of options for street food that are above average.

Majority of the foods there are overrated, Singapore foods better .

Once ready, the path from the train station to the ferry will take you through Penang Sentral Level 2. I think it will be better at this point to take a coach from KL to Sungei Nibong, and then a transfer from there to Georgetown.

Yes, have experienced the sweltering heat of Malaysia already so will go prepared, haha!

Fingers crossed the food isn't too overrated, at least. I've yet to be convinced by their assam laksa...

Penang hill can eat durian there.

Stay Sunway before, beside got many street foods, in the evening time more push carts join in. Near to Komtar, easy to travel around.
