Will be in Penang, staying in Eastin for 5 nights for work. What else can I do there after work?

How's Eastin compared to G hotel?

Eastin is newest hotel, just next to Queensbay Mall. This is Bayan Lepas area.

G hotel is a boutique hotel, along Gurney Drive, next to Gurney Plaza.

For me, I would prefer G Hotel anyday.

It depends on where u go, either work or for food.

If you nid to cross Penang bridge, then eastin better.

If u wan food, then G Hotel.

Price bet both of them big diff, eastin is ard 200rm nett with bf, G hotel is ard 290 nett with bf. This is my company's corp rates.

Gurney plaza is more up market, but Queensbay is thrice the size and more food outlets like canton-i etc.

For me, going to Penang either for work or leisure, I go for hawker food only.

And G hotel is closer to food places, esp Komtar.

Komtar area is definitely the place to start

Hi...strongly recommends the Wang Chau Jun's Steamed fish slice hor fun... yummy:)
It's at Jalan Rangoon, about 10-15 mins walk from Sunway... only 2 streets away from the famous Chay Koay Teow at Jalan Selamat...

er? issit near g hotel ma? heheh.. i 1st time.. so super noob.. paisei.. =)

G Hotel is great.

If u are there on wed and have time spare, u can go gurney plaza and catch a movie for 6rm.

Within 5mins walks from the hotel, there's gurney hawker but I din not try.

I prefer to go place like macallister lane, kimberley st for food. Places where locals go.

As for dao sha bia, there's two. Ghee Hiang, older history, but imo not as nice as his disciple who opened his own outlet called, Ding Hiang or Ting Hiang.

Ding Xiang is freshly baked daily, and more crowded.

Let me know if you nid more info

If u wan to stay in gurney area, try evergreen or gurney hotel.

Northam is at gurney area, it's an all suites hotel, all rooms comes with jacuzzi.

Some of the pple stay at Tune hotel, budget hotel but very neat food places.

Eastin hotel is next to Quennsbay Mall, at bayan lepas area, not much food at night.

I got my Penang Tau Sar Piah here:
http://www.ghee-hiang.com/home.html
Pretty good :)

Ghee Hiang has been area for ard a century, but right now it's more abt the style over substance.

It's manufactured at the factory and packaged nicely.

The other one, Ting Hiang or Ding Hiang, opened by his ex staff is much nicer.

To be frank, it's much more crowded by locals and tourists now.

When I came back fr penang last mth, I saw pple carrying boxes of Ding Hiang back, instead of Ghee Hiang

Did u try to book through the hotel webby ?

You could try booking thru asianrooms or latestays.

They still might have some rooms, you nvr know
