unesco sites - just grab a map from the hotel and walk, u're already near it.

kek lok si - either take taxi or walk to komtar and take rapid penang (there's a bus interchange at komtar)
U201, U203, U204,
U206, T306 and U502
u can ask the bus driver to tell u when to get off - it's a very famous attraction so they will know...

penang hill is not far from kek lok si, about 1-2km. however the cable car is not ready until march. now for going up the hill, you can only take 4X4 cars from botanical gardens.

hmmm airasia $102 but is it including the baggage check in package or carry on only? it did not state on the website..
if jetstar carryon only $70, with baggage $99

air asia u choose the first one if u don not want the luggage... there is three options...

i book mine for $137 noon go night back.. depart end feb

i did not try all, impossible to treat everything in a mth also

pulau tikus had many food, char kway teow, etc.

the char kway teow had the option of duck eggs, at a slightly higher price

my fave at penang is definitely chee cheong fun

its at macallister st.

opened only in the morning.

few stalls down, theres another kopitiam, with an elderly hunchback uncle selling kway teow soup.

in between, yes in between this 2 kopitiams, theres a push cart that sell their version of fried carrot cake, called char kway kak, or chao guao giao.

the chee cheong fun and kway teow soup is a MUST try

i tried all the 3 stalls, the best is chee cheong fun, the duck kway tiao soup is abit oily, but still is good.
the char kway kak so so, but quite alot, best is to share.

Gearing up for new train service

THE Penang Hill Corporation has recruited more than 30 new employees for the running of the funicular train service which is expected to resume next month.

The corporation’s steering committee deputy chairman Datuk Lee Kah Choon said the new employees would be in charge of the train operation, mechanical engineering and maintenance service.

“They are now undergoing intensive training and learning how to operate the new Swiss-made air-conditioned coaches to ensure the service is safe and smooth,” he said when contacted on Tuesday.

Penang Transport, Utilities and Public Works Committee chairman Lim Hock Seng said machinery tests for the upgraded service had started since last month.

“Tests are done almost everyday,” he said.

“We are ready to take over the service anytime and are waiting for the Tourism Ministry to hand it back to us,” Lim said.

It was earlier reported that the service will resume at the end of next month after a RM63mil upgrading project by the ministry.

The new air-conditioned coaches, which can carry 50 people each, will travel non-stop between the foot of the hill and the top station under the upgraded system unlike the old system where passengers have to change trains at the middle station.

Commuting time of the new service will be within 10 minutes one way compared to 30 minutes previously with the change of trains.

Got 101, 103, 104 and 304. Assume you're heading to the famous gurney drive hawker centre.

101, 103, 104 - get down at traffic light cross junction near sunshine shopping centre/condo

304 brings you directly but frequency maybe less frequent compared to 101.

Georgetown is not big, can go by bus or walking. Most of the streets are one way, congestion, parking is not easy to find and their motorcycles are suicidal one.

I dont see much cab on the roads.
I been to Penang 4 times and so far, the road within Penang are ok.
So i would recommend driving there.
But if you intend just to go george town then you can explore by foot.
