Hi all,
if anyone going to Penang and have your own transport, you may want to try this place 'Ong Cheng Huat Seafood (王清发海鲜 - 椰脚)' address: Address: Jalan Bagan Lalang, 13400 Butterworth, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.
There is no menu and you sit down and they serve you what they have for the day. The steam fish head and the deep fried spring chicken both are very good!
I was shocked to see the bill for 9 adults and 2 kids to be less than $100 with so much food on the table.

beside g hotel is a damn huge shopping mall opened by capital land.. xp and the gurney street hawker is jux beside.. but sad to say.. the food really sucks.. =x

G Hotel is located adjacent to Gurney Plaza. If you like pub, you can walk about 10 minutes to Gurney Hotel there. A pub is located on the left side of the building.

A popular seafood restaurant, Oriented Seafood Restaurant, is a stone thrown away but the price is bit higher. G Hotel is popular for business executives to stay and from time to time, they have special corporation forums or presentations.

The last gun shooting was happened at least three months ago in Simpang Ampat (mainland) where is about 5km to Tambun fishermen village or popular seafood restaurant.

G hotel nice location. The surrounding there gd enough for u to spend 1 to 2 days if u into shopping etc....

But its far from my kind of happening which is in georgetown

i am planning to to use one day rent a car to drive around the other side of Penang. Can anyone help to add a few pointers?

driving from Georgetown:
*Botanical Garden - waterfall look good
Penang Botanical Gardens Waterfall, Penang / Pulau Pinang
*Batu Ferringhi beach
*Nature Park
*Butterfly Farm
*Tropical Fruit Farm
*Nutmeg Factory and goat farm
*Rice paddies
*Snake Temple
*Kek Lok Si temple
*Penang Hill for sunset
*Seafood dinner at Bukit Tambun (Main island?)

Plan to set off at around 8am. Don't know got enough time to cover all location or not? can anyone advice?

Penang Botanical Garden waterfall is closed for public access. You may need to have two days drive around the island to visit stated tourist spots.

Of course enough time if you only spend 30-60mins at each place. E.g. snap a few pictures at Ferringhi but not jump into the water.

One third of time spent on driving and looking for directions. Like a delivery man, but not very meaningful as a vacation.

ok Thanks. the other two waterfall looks small that i think will give it a miss

charming place, but not for everyone, especially older folks (especially who are pantang)

note, try not to get the rooms next to red garden, very noisy until late
