Anyone stay in G Hotel at Gurney Drive before ?

The 2 single beds in the room look more like twin beds right ?

Big enough to squeeze 2 people per bed ie 4 people per room ?

Normally rooms with twin beds means 2 super-single (3.5ft) beds, to sleep 2 adults. If it says 2 double beds, then it may be 2 queen-size (5ft) beds that you can sleep a total of 4 pax. But even if they give you 2 double beds, they may charge you differently whether you've 2 or 4 adults staying there.

That location only 2 malls and quite far from Georgetown area where the life happens. If willing to taxi, its one of the nicest hotel there is. Just up the street is the night market.

Hi everybody! I am back again to share my views here as I find this topic interesting. Seems like we never discuss before.

I personally tried Ah Yen Seafood http://kokcheehou.blogspot.com/2014/09/restoran-yen-batu-kawan.html and Gee Seng Seafood before. For me, I love Ah Yen seafood more than Gee Seng basically due to these Two main reasons:

1. Ah Yen Seafood taste better and thicker than Gee Seng. Like the Sweet & Sour Crab by Ah Yen
2. Price at Ah Yen is slightly cheaper too

But I never try How Kee yet,so unable to share my views.

Anyway, if any of you who are looking for delicious yet reasonably priced zhi char in Penang foor dinner with your families or friends, there is ONE shop that I highly recommend to all. This shop is actually situated at Sungai Dua area, an old wooden shop but the Zhi Char is really nice and the price is seriously cheap!!

We went there last week, 5 pax and we ordered dishes like Curry Fish, Shrimp Paste Chicken and etc, in total 6 dishes plus 2 added rice and it only cost RM 98 TOTAL!!! Imagine that...Best part is,the food is really nice and we went home feeling not only full but so great!!

Wait for my photos to be uploaded here soon....

have you tried ong cheng huat? http://www.themalaymailonline.com/e...butterworth-ong-cheng-huat-seafood-restaurant ?

Ah Yen Seafood seems not bad!! Basically we are looking for 2-3stores for seafood dinner/lunch during our stay. We have rented a car so distance is not a problem. Can also recommend some island seafood stalls too? This way we can try both mainland and island.

I believe you often frequent penang, so your advice will be good! There are tooo tooo too many seafood restaurnts in penang. When i googled for them some will say it's overpriced and etc... It will be great for someone like you to advice

If don't tell them how many are staying they won't know right ?

If they want to check, but don't have the means to, I'm not sure if I'd want to stay there at all.

I'll understand if they want to close one eye to how many stay in the room, but for security reasons, I'd like to know that they can check.

some hotels don't care, but some hotels will check stringently

they can monitor corridor CCTV.

so the question is, when they approach you and ask you to pay for the extra beds, are you going to kick up a fuss?

Big hotels often won't bother but hostels and smaller hotels often will. The extra one or two person can close eye but 11 people in room meant for two is pushing the limit.

If you guys want to stay together, why not get one of those 8 bed dorms and request extra mats.

Not easy to find Hotels with family suites for 4 people.

Gurney area Gurney Hotel and Northam all suites have these rooms.

But Gurney Hotel is really run down.

Northam all suites is really not on Gurney and not all rooms have seaview.

Or any one know whether either of the G hotels have adjacent rooms with door that can be opened to connect the rooms ?

But these also hard to get.

Another alternative is Marina Suites at Straits Quay but that one is more like service apartment than a hotel.

Anyone stay there before ?

Hi all, this is to give andrew a postive testimonial for driving me n gf for 1day on the 2nd day of my trip. His package includes 2way airport transfer as well. He is extremely easy going and engaging throughout the drive from 11am to 8pm. Although official quote was 1030am to 5.30pm, he was patient and did not rush us to fit the time.

My itinerary was fixed on the spot with his recommendations(do ask him for a list), made some funny mistakes like driving all the way to snake temple(which is near the airport) and drive back to george town, where we could have plan better. But it is all well and good.

Overall, it is a no fuss trip and andrew will try to accomodate to his best knowledge of penang. The fare was reasonable(considering you have good company and door step transport) and i just have to give andrew more tips for the arrangements.

Me and gf had good company with andrew and his hospitality is superb, even met his dad who was waiting for us during arrival in penang. Only complaint is that penang is too hot and big, we couldnt find much time to do everything in 3d2n.
