Which night market has the larger variety? Jelutong or Macallum?

Farlim too far.

I didn't managed to go to Jelutong but I would assume its bigger than Macallum which is not that big actually.

But that being said, there are some gems to be found in Macallum too.

although some of the popular stalls are at all the night markets anyways..haha

Hi there,

Sorry for the late reply. Ong Cheng Huat I have tried before. Definitely a MUST EAT!! I just love the Baby Chicken or they called it Deep Fried Spring Chicken. This is a must eat, must order in Ong Cheng Huat. You can't leave Ong Cheng Huat telling people you didn't try their Baby Chicken. I love the crispy and tender soft chicken meat there to go with the Fried Bee Hoon. Myself can finish the 6 pcs of chicken alone.haha!

When you are in Butterworth, just head there for the food. You can order their Octopus,Steam Fish, Baby Chicken and Fried Bee Hoon. Will be good enough to fill your tummy with no regret. The price is also reasonable. Thumbs up!

In Penang Island, you can try Shu Xia or Weld Quay Tree Shade Seafood. They have recently moved to Armenian Street. Nice and delicious food with affordable price.

You can also try Khun Thai, the one in Penang Island and NOT Mainland. Thai seafood which I really go for when I crave for Thai food. Price is a little bit high but the food is really delicious and worth to pay for if you love spicy and food like me. Really satisfying!

have you tried ong cheng huat? http://www.themalaymailonline.com/e...butterworth-ong-cheng-huat-seafood-restaurant ?

Ah Yen Seafood seems not bad!! Basically we are looking for 2-3stores for seafood dinner/lunch during our stay. We have rented a car so distance is not a problem. Can also recommend some island seafood stalls too? This way we can try both mainland and island.

I believe you often frequent penang, so your advice will be good! There are tooo tooo too many seafood restaurnts in penang. When i googled for them some will say it's overpriced and etc... It will be great for someone like you to advice

Well,if to compare Jelutong vs Macallum night market, I will go for Jelutong night market. It is so much more bigger and happening than the one at Macallum. Not many people knows about this Friday Jelutong Night Market. Those who knows, majority of them stays around there. Those who didn't stay there mostly would not have heard of it. Not sure why this night market which is so big and happening is not well known among tourist and not actually promoted by the locals.

More than 100 stalls lining up along the road and pavements of Jalan Van Praagh and Jalan Slim. You name it,they have it from clothes, accessories, food, drinks, daily groceries and so much more! If any of you have been to KSL Monday Night market, this is even more happening! Lots of delicious food and very cheap too!

Among the food to try are Yong Tao Fu, Laksa,Curry Mee, Bak Chang,Rojak,Beancurd,Apom. Oh ya, there are also 2-3 stalls selling sugar cane juice. I have tried 2 of them and I really really love this particular stall where the sugar cane juice is so so tasty, thirst quenching!! Forget the name though, but this stall is not situated at the junction of the road. Shall take a picture of this stall to share it here when I frequent it again. My god,I miss this stall so much!! Basically, I went to this Night Market like every Friday whenever I am in Penang. This is my most love Night Market in Penang. You can literally find everything you need there though it is very difficult to find a parking around there.

One will need to park somewhere further, maybe around 10 mins walk to the night market. That is the only downside of to visit the place.

Thank you so so much Wooty for the wonderful review and feedback. I am so excited to bring you around Penang that I actually forgot the time limit. Haha! Like you said, Penang is too hot last week and too big to explore everything in like 2 days.

Glad that you enjoy your trip in penang with your gf and had a delighting experience with me! It was really great meeting the both of you and eventually we became friends. :) Do come back again in the future to visit me and my dad again.

Thank you and take care!

Hi all, this is to give andrew a postive testimonial for driving me n gf for 1day on the 2nd day of my trip. His package includes 2way airport transfer as well. He is extremely easy going and engaging throughout the drive from 11am to 8pm. Although official quote was 1030am to 5.30pm, he was patient and did not rush us to fit the time.

My itinerary was fixed on the spot with his recommendations(do ask him for a list), made some funny mistakes like driving all the way to snake temple(which is near the airport) and drive back to george town, where we could have plan better. But it is all well and good.

Overall, it is a no fuss trip and andrew will try to accomodate to his best knowledge of penang. The fare was reasonable(considering you have good company and door step transport) and i just have to give andrew more tips for the arrangements.

Me and gf had good company with andrew and his hospitality is superb, even met his dad who was waiting for us during arrival in penang. Only complaint is that penang is too hot and big, we couldnt find much time to do everything in 3d2n.

Stay in Georgetown better, many places are easily accessible. Gurney Drive is too overated now, food not as good as last time.

I stayed in Armenian Street Heritage Hotel last time, can try taking a look :D

You use both cash or touch n go card.

If you want to get touch n go card, you are better to get it in Penang Bridge office in order to 20% from Penang Bridge toll. It applies to all vehicles which are crossing the bridge only.
