woot~ nice cables heard abt many upgrading to Canare/Belden but didnt know how they look like so thx for the pics!!
can u share the breakdown of the prices? how long are the Canare and Belden inter-connects?

I bought them at LHS at SLT. After placing an order, I actually walked to Bugis Junction with my friend and go TCC for a nice minty mocha as he will take 1 hour to tailor-make the cables.

I can't remember the exact breakdown cost, but all the 3 cables are 2 meters long. They are very solid, thick and the quality is very convincing for me.

This is more important as nowadays the new batch of Aego M all comes with small, thin white cables. Changing the cables do bring a certain degree of audio clarity and richness.

Why the Canare 4S8 got one mini connector at one end while the Belden interconnect looks like speaker cables with bare leads at one end???

was quoted by the frizzy hair uncle there...i think his name is patrick or sth

Firstly, you're given Canare F-09s which are better and hence more expensive

Secondly, is your interconnect RCA or RCA to mini? Do note that a lot of cable price goes into the connectors, RCA being more expensive the mini, and you'll need 2 of them instead of 1 mini jack.

Price of cable is nothing in comparison, 4S6 costs $2/m

Third, Belden is just a brand, are you sure your interconnect, especially the connectors, is identical to his? If you only know it's Belden or asked them for Belden interconnect you might be given the cheaper mic cables or the more ex 89259 that costs $9/m

well based on ur info of canare 4S6 being $2/m i can confirm that i have bben overcharged bcos uncle frizzy hair quoted me $4.50/m for those

Now to quell any doubts...i went to take a closer look at my cables

And this is what i got

Speaker cables:
1.5m Canare 4S6 with Canare F-09/bare
1.5m Canare 4S6 with Canare F-09/bare

Interconnect:
1.5m Belden 8761 with neutrik 3.5mm jack/ brandless dual RCA

Speaker cables: $39 (based on math)
Interconnect: $20 (this was what was quoted to me)
Total: $59 (this is for 4.5m of cable in total)

As such i realli do think i was overcharged courtesy of frizzy hair uncle of which i still have his card

Anyway, as long as the price quoted is within your initial budget, I feel it is OK even if you are being "chopped" for a few dollars more. The audio quality improves by quite a bit.

Price of cabling for you can't be over $15 and him, $20.

Connectors... while I do not know the price for F-09, the F-10 is $7 each and F-09 won't be far from that.
Taking neutrik as $2-3, since dunno that brandless RCA then I take the price of brandless RCAs from another shop, which is $3.50 each, add all together connectors cost ~$24.

Then, what about sleeving? The sleeve can easily cost as much as the cable. Your interconnect isn't sleeved but it has a Y-adaptor, and because the 8761 only has 2 conductors + 1 ground you'll need 2 cables for the 2 signals + 2 ground from 2 RCA connections. All these add $$$, $20 for this cable sounds about right.

Then the $4.50/m for the 4S6 sounds like with sleeving. Original 4S6 is smooth round grey outer layer with words on it and lots of fabric in the middle surrounding 4 conductors. Is that what you got, or did your end product only has two conductors at the other end?

That said, erwin's interconnect is definitely sleeved. But his Belden "interconnect-that-looks-like-speaker-cables" that also uses F-09 plugs doesn't seem so.

This is confusing. erwinrommel, are u sure you didn't make a Canare 4S8 interconnect and a Belden speaker cable instead? Can you read what is printed on your Belden "interconnect"?

P.S. if you think LHS's prices are ex, try asking around other shops in SLT, for example one cable shop on 3rd floor corner that also sells Belden. Or if you frequent Stereo electronics ask them for their price of the Canares.

my 4S6 is definitely not sleeved as i can read the words printed on the cable...and yes...it's still the original grey color

personally i've heard alot of gd stuff abt LHS especially with regards to their service and recommendations thats y i prob let my guard down a li'l

well u cant blame me for feeling a tad bit angry and disappointed....altho i will not dispute the fact that the cables realli do improve the SQ comin out of my aego

next time i'll be sure to approach robert instead

I think I got it messed up.

The speaker cables are from Belden (sub-to-satellite) and the Canare 4s8 inter-connect (from sound card to sub-woofer). The Belden speaker cable is 1309A. Sorry for the confusion. I go and edit my previous post first for wrong information.

Yes. I just clarify it. Sorry for the silly confusion. Canare inter-connect is from sound card to sub, and the Belden 1309A audio cables are from sub-woofer to the speakers. I have a bit if difficulty trying to fit the cables into the back of the Aego sub-woofer.
