Aego-M price shock!

While coming across a review of said speakers here:
http://www.trustedreviews.com/multimedia/review/2006/05/17/Acoustic-Energy-Aego-M-Speakers/p1

It was only selling for £86.09 excluding VAT, in 2006

Even if add expensive shipping it's too far from the $360 that we were forced to pay before the price cut!

And the reason why they can price it so ex, is becuz there is a constant supply of customers buying it overpriced, fueled by mindless following of general public opinions

There's a change of alloy used for the satellite speakers, which actually brings down the cost.

The current price for the Aego M is pretty value-for-money.

$260 now is still more than £86.09 in 2006, before the "change of alloy".

Unless of course, shipping costs $70 for each individual speaker in bulk shipping. If you believe that then I've got shares in a shipping company that I can let go of.. :s13:

The price during the review was made was around 99 pounds, not 56 pounds if I am not wrong. Even in Amazon.co.uk, it still costs 120 pounds now even after the "change of material". :s22:

Would also like to check if the Aego sub is powerful enough to power the Usher S-520s?

Coincidence? Someone else was also asking what bookshelves to pair with his AegoM. :s13:

One TDA7374 for each channel, rated (at 4 ohms) 21W max (10% THD) or 10W at normal rated THD of 0.5%

That's ok if u ask me, coz the T-amp I'm using now only has 15W @ 4 ohms, 10% THD, or 1W @ 0.1% THD, and it can drive floorstanders.

But dun take my word for it. Those are chip specs, actual sound at heavy loads may suck because of other components CMI.

change of material is told by AE itself. not from the dealer.

Hi guys...I am new here and i really wish you guys could help mi out:(

I am seriously thinking of buying a Aego M at CE. I read many things about DAC and stuffs.
But what actually is DAC? Is it jus a cable which connects the speaker to my PC? I heard in AE official website that cables are already included in the package and if that is the case, why would i still need to buy cables such as Canare 4S8 Belden( what i saw from some posts)?

And i heard that mp3 could be directly connected to the speaker. Will there be any difference if i play my mp3 using the speaker or i just play directly from the file in my PC?

Thanks experts!!

Dac is digital to analog converter.
is just like a external sound card. but SQ is much better than most of the soundcard inside the computer.

those cable that came with the package is just a normal cable.
each cable has a different sound signature, you can choose them depanding wat kind of sound you like.
