AE Aego-M User Official Thread!

Bros, just got my $299 Aego M yesterday. Very happy with it. Though I've a few questions:

1) the speaker system seems to be driven by a built in amp with the subwoofer. I'm told to turn it off everyend of the day to give it a "rest period". Do you think this is necessary or that it's okay to leave it on for an entire week to a month without "resting"?

If yes, what is recommended to turn it off, turn off the main power / turn down the knob to min and off or... ? I'm afraid the knobs are overused due to years of every day turning up and down the volume to off...

2) My Aux IN of the back of the subwoofer is connected using the stock cables to a 3.5mm jack plugged with my Samsung LCD TV at the "headphone icon" socket. As I don't have an RCA AUX IN and OUT cable... I've to live with this for now. The sound still sounds as awesome as I expected from music and such though.

Would you guys recommend getting Belken cables and RCA connectors instead of the stock ones? I mean whats the difference in improvement regards to SQ? The guy at CE couldn't explain further just said "it's better" and thats it. So, I'm thinking one of the bros here can help about this question?

3) Looking from the back of the subwoofer interconnects... there's LEFT / CENTER / RIGHT. that means the back of the satellite speakers facing us, I place the, left and right which if I'm looking at my couch from the back of the speakers, the position should be LEFT and RIGHT, is this correct?

4) Thinking of making the system a 3.1 ... by adding the CENTER speaker. Is this recommended, I mean does it really help in some way to improve experience in sound in gaming / movies / music and also should we get the same AE satellites ? dunno where to get them though.

All in all, I've to say this system beats ATP3 to the ground... really. I've previously owned a nice ATP3 and it's nowhere close to being able to perform like the Aego M.

Tested it with a ripped MP3 192kb tracks and also with a DVD interactive concert based music album. nice, I could hear the speakers breathe into the mic the short bursts of breath and such. details that I couldn't catch the jingling of percussions and accompanyment of female vocals that blend so CLEARLY together, no muffles and just a smooth fading in and out like actually being in the middle of the crowd at the concert. There was some electric guitar also, and it's really solid. Rounded sound I would say.

Very proud of this purchase, my friends told me , wow $299 for a multimedia PC speaker system.... but well, I'm still quite happy with the purchase. Is our Aego M a PC speaker or more towards those actual system speakers?

Been using Aego M for 2 years... i shall say this pair of speakers are damn solid for music! I enjoy listening to music (not movies) with the Aego M more than my home theater setup (Onkyo SR607 + Jamo floor standers + subs).

However, having listened to the Bose Companion 3 quite a number of times, my urge of getting it has been getting stronger and i finally ordered one. very eager to give it a test when it arrives

cheapest ah.. has to be City Electronics.. $290 after discount.. i heard adelphi there selling for 300++

i also quite gian for this Aego M speakers..

yes... CE has the best price for aego... dun be like me. that time see cheap + have stock dun buy. backside itchy. then when wanna buy, no more stock... end up only KEC have it... then pay more..

u know wat MO will be great for aego users? the 3.1 setup. if any aego user wants to make it a 3.1 set up a MO for a piece of the aego m sat would be great.

I think SGD250 was the lowest I have heard or seen them selling. I personally bought mine for 250 bucks.

haha this few days no pm no nothing and today i happened to around SLT area and had 2 hours to kill.so i went there to see see look look

end up i got the belden cables and canare rca for my interconnect .not sure what model but the rca is $7 per piece and the cable stated something like "flex video or something like that "cable is $4 per meter.

as for the speaker cable its the one which is $3 per meter with canare F "something"10 for the rca .

i stated the price per meter already.

anyway i use 1m for the interconnects cos my woofer is quite near to my cpu and i want to minimize the cable length.

for the speaker cables i am using 2m each cos i need slightly longer to tuck them behind my table neatly.

its not that nice seriously.
no matter how i tried setting up my VIA software , the center sound still seems to come out together with the left and right channel.
for music its horrible.it just sounds wrong.

what i was actually hoping is , for movies when i play , the center sound is like those 5.1system which will generate more for dialogue in the middle .but somehow it just lacks.

so afterwhich i just stick to the 2.1 setup and i m happy till this day with it.

there is 2 centre function, one is the aego process the incoming stereo or you provide it with a incoming centre input from your soundcard

U got toggle the last switch at the back of the Aego M subwoofer? The channeling of sound at various crossover frequencies is done by the subwoofer actually.
My setup of Aego M + Wharfedale Crystal CR-8 + Centre Speaker salvaged from Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 works ok leh with movies, music & live TV.

Good pair of speakers for its size.

yeah true. 2.1 for music. 3.1 for movies. but also depends on individual.
