Alright...I'm in the mood to upgrade cables...any recommendation. Did lots of searches...

1) Canare 4S11 or 4S8 terminate with Neutrik for Sub to Sat
2) How abt interconnect (PC 3.5mm out to the Sub which is RCA)...would prefer those which are not too expensive - Belden / Canare / Mogami?

Anyone please advise what are decent speaker wires and interconnects to connect my Aego2.1? So far I have seen chord and belden being mentioned. How much and where to pay asuming I need 1.5m per speaker. Thanks.

Just got my aego-M from cityelectronics at $320 yesterday. Upgrade the cables to satellite at the cost of $9/m.

I am wondering how you guys connect the aego-M to your sound card if it gets a 5.1 output. I noticed that on the rear panel of aego-m it gets a center input. Shoud I also connect a center input from sound card to the subwoofer, even it does not have a center satellite.

Aego M Sats

Hello,

I have owned an Aego M set for a year now. I am using the sub with another Aego set. I have the two sattelites not being used. Want to sell it off. Anyone interested in buying?

I heard in shops is around 150$ for a new-extra sattelite. I will sell these two for 70$ each, considering they are a year old. But the sound is still great, like a new one! Infact i think after usage, the sound gets better. I can deliver to you within singapore and you can test it at your place before you pay me.

So far I haven't found any speakers that sound as good as the aego Ms.

I also just got Aego-M at City Electronics at $320, inclusive of GST.

I notice that the volume knob has this "clicking" sound when turning off. Is it advisable to turned till there is the "click" sound? I had Creative speakers and the volume knob had this "clicking" sound when turning off too. The volume started to go bonkers after a few years by being louder and softer on its own sometimes. I read in forums that it was due to people turning off the system by "clicking" everytime, so the advice was not to go beyond the "click" point when turning off. Does this apply to Aego-M as well?

Next, I shall write about how I feel about Aego-M. Yes, the satellite speakers are heavy, but the subwoofer is also heavy, haha. It doesn't sound as warm as what I've heard in the shop. I went on to compare it with Creative Cambridge Soundworks FPS1600, a very old 4.1 system. To my dismay, I couldn't tell which is better. The same goes when I compared it with another Creative 5.1 system, which costed about $120. I even conducted a blind test, but still, I couldn't tell which is better. I'm currently quite disappointed. Don't be mistaken, the sound quality is good! Just that I thought I would be able to easily tell it apart from speakers that cost below $150. One peculiar thing is that most of the bass is emitted from the satellites instead of the subwoofer, so the resulting sound is very much "together", if you know what I mean. The bass is not as strong as I desire, so I currently put the bass setting on the subwoofer to level 3.

I've attributed the not-as-superior-as-I-thought experience to several factors.

1. I'm using the cables that came with it.
2. I'm using on-board soundcard on my notebook.
3. The speakers have not "burn in" yet.
4. I'm not listening to CD-quality music, i.e. I'm listening to normal MP3s from 192 to 320 kbps.

Which of the above do you all think is the biggest factor?

Anyway, what do you all mean by "burn in"? Must I play for like 30 hours straight or is it just a cumulative kind of thing? Willl the speakers "burn in" after a period of normal usage, i.e. a few hours on a couple of separate days?

Thank you so much in advance for answering my queries!

I bought a aego M today too. i agree with you the music doesnt sound that good back at the shop probably coz of the dvd player they use. its a denon!

i also up my bass to level 3. felt the same thing as you.

i feel a bit mix about my aego M when compared to my T40. each has its pros and cons. i feel that drumrolls and trumpet blows a bit distorted in aego M. but vocals, continuity and consistency is better than T40.

probably this. was using my realtek onboard, before changing to a auzen xplosion. one thing i noticed after changing to the new soundcard was that the bass was about 50% louder, well it still is not PowerfuL enough for bassheads though. and after tweaking some settings and got the sound i like, i saved the settings, then switched back to my old altec lansing speakers and played around with the soundcard settings again, and noticed that i couldnt really hear much difference when tweaking the frequencies, as i would have noticed with the aego satelites.

so maybe with a better source you might be able to notice some sounds the aego lets you hear, that your old speakers might not have. But also.. creative cambridge soundworks is a pretty good set. well for me, from altec lansing to an aego, there is indeed a big diff =:p

Hi

I am also tempted to change from T40 to Aego-M. So what's your feedback after changing to Aego-M for quite some time?

Hi fellow aego m users,

Using onboard card, doesnt sound as expected. Need a soundcard to bring out its performance.

My budget is abt 100-150 the most. Besides auzentech x-plosion, any other better ones?

My humble comparison with ATP3...

AegoM
1) Better soundstage.. can clearly tell where the different instruments are..
2) Much better details..
3) Bass is better.. not really that low enough but better then ATP3.

However ATP3 have better treble.. or mids.. vocal especially those male vocal sound pretty lifeless..How i wish the treble can be adjust in the AegoM.. Another bad point is even 320KBS mp3 is going to sound lifeless on the AegoM.. but if u pop in an audio CD the AegoM is like another beast.. jumping out of life...pretty excellent.

Hi may i know how u all connect aego m to yr pc? I using onboard sound. But no matter how i plug, somehow only the left sattelite got sound, the right dosen't have. Cos when i unplug left, the right side still no sound, but if unplug right, left still got sound.
I using the cable with the black, red and white pin to connect my pc to the sub, pc Line in to Sub left right. Then connect the 2 long speakers wire with some wire out to the sub left right connector for the sattelite respectively. Can help?
