actually companies can save themselves lot of trouble by giving voucher instead of providing food to the share holders.

it will be very embarrassing if the share holders fight over the food due to some greedy share holders dabao food B4 any other had their share of entitlement.
Agreed, buffet and bento only one meal, with a $20 voucher I can get enough groceries for multiple meals.

but even voucher also got share holders complain : Y 1 piece of S$20.00 instead of 2 pieces of S$10.00 so that they need not "forced" to use it at one go. :(

Yeah I noticed this auntie bringing her teenage son (looks around 16-18 years old) to the M1 agm. She was queuing in front of me for registration and requested an extra food voucher for her son, the staff just obliged without hesitation.

In the end some SSIer mentioned that there wasn't enough bento vouchers for latecomers.

Can I split my shares and authorise multiple proxies to attend AGM?, eg 50,000 shares, authorise proxy A to vote based on 30000 shares and proxy B to vote based on 20000 shares.

In that way, I branja 2 person to makan =:p

Can split even for those with 100 shares?
Maybe they restrict this to those with a lot more shares.

think minimum share holder to be eligible for the agm ish 100 share. So if chiu split it 100 to 1/2, might not eligible liao.

Good news for those who invest in shares thru' CPF, shld be able to attend AGM in future. The usual cut off time for appointing proxy is 48hr prior to AGM and they will probably extend this to 72hrs.

Companies Act amendment:

A new multiple-proxies regime will be introduced, which would allow specified intermediaries, such as banks and capital markets services licence holders which provide custodial services, to appoint more than two proxies. This will enable indirect investors, including CPF investors, to be appointed as proxies to participate in shareholders’ meetings. Indirect investors will be given the same rights as direct investors to vote at the shareholders’ meetings.

the changes will only adding additional work for the share registrar and the companies beside increasing operation costs.

the registrar need to deploy more manpower to quickly scan the additional attendances nric and the companies need to either cater more food or more vouchers.

Shareholders shld have equal rights, whether direct or indirect (eg owned shares thru' intermediaries like CPF, custodians).

Imho, a small price to pay for once-a-year AGM.

the additional cost (money) ish from the share holder pocket.

moi remember in 1 of the agm, a guy ask for better food and the chairman replied chiu want better dividend or better food ? :s8:

The additional money had to come from some where.

If moi there, moi wld jitao retort and ask the Chairman, how would extra $10/head for better food for say 1000 attendees translate to less dividend, and if so, total dividend for distribution to share holder is lesser by only $10k nia nia. Directors pay themselves more (attendance fees) just to attend quarterly Board Meetings.

Bottom line is what's the additional cost of allowing indirect shareholders vs the amount set aside for dividend distribution.
