just installed setcpu on my aurora and was really surprised to find that the battery drains really slowly when the screen is off. This problem was one of my pet peeves with the otherwise awesome tablet.
The CPU is able to go as low as 30 Mhz when not in active use, which explains the significant power saving. Conversely you can overclock it to 1200 Mhz max (any higher would crash the system), though performance improvements are negligible.

Might be useful for those new to android.

Best firmware for Aurora w LG Screen?

Yo guys got something to share.

I brought the Aurora from CH2 last friday for $199. It is the english version from: The new Ainol Novo 7 Aurora Limited English Edition Ultra-thin Android 4.0 Tablet PC 7 inch LG IPS HD Screen 1GB RAM ARM A10 Many CORE CPU 2160P HD 2MP Front Camera HDMI 8GB White: $249.99, On Sale Now: $169.99 Free Shipping* « uPlay Tablet The box everything is the same. And based on the serial at the back, it looks the Aurora is made in May 2012.

Anyway I played with it for a while and after some research, I went on to "upgrade" to the feiyu0515 firmware. As the Aurora used LG screen, I had to use the v3 LG patch as well. But the feel is "not as good" as the original... it seems with the patch, the screen become not so sensitive. Maybe the feiyu has additional stuff like "cell radio" the aurora seems to be slower also.

I decided to go back to using the original firmware. I search for a while and I found it here: http://gadgetfreakz.co.uk/ainol-novo-7-aurora-android-4-0-7-ips-tablet.html under the downloads tab. I got the one released on 28/4/2012

Right now, I really think that the official English firmware for Aurora is better than the feiyu. So if you guys noticed sluggishness or unresponsive screen for your Aurora LG, you may want to consider using the official firmware. Google play is also supported so no worries.

Hey guys, is it recommended to get the Ainol Aurora tablet from the current PC show @ $219? It comes with the pouch, keyboard and screen protector. Seems quite attractive. Any advise?

Dear HWZ bro / sis, Stay away from them (CH2)

1) Dont support them, the more you continue to support meaning to given chance for them to corn more consumer.

2) Buying from them or road show come from same importer which is reknown for non-existent support or warranty. http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/64575194-post471.html

3) they only care to make profit, they dont concern care about consumer. :(

Past Record >
last year 2011 - selling refurbished set Novo 7 advanced back to customer
this year 2012 - continue selling refurbished set Novo 7 Aurora
(there are many more bad records before that.)

should able to get it for aurora $200 in local market. their price are rip off. :(

Newb With Aurora Screen issue

Hi All,
Im a newb, just got the Aurora about 2 days ago. Having problem with the touch screen sensitivity issue, its driving me nuts :s22: when you cant flip a page in Acrobat reader or click a ap. Unfortunately I didnt get to see the forum about so too late. Now, I have a few question to ask being a Newb :s11:

Q1
Would flashing it to LiFeiyu ROM help
Q2
Where can I find livesuit? Cant seems to find it in the link?
Q3
I follow the details at
All Firmware Novo Aurora mod by feiyu - SlateDroid.com - Page 36

But not too sure which ROM to d/l =:p

Q4
I plug USB in, but not able to read thumb drive consistently. Sometime yes, sometime no. Is it Hardware or Firmware issue?

Thats about it for now, My Model in
About Tablet stated as novo_7_Aurora
Android Ver 4.03
Baseband Ver 1
Kernel 3.0.8
Build
20120322.092021.V03

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.:)
Thanks

Hi, this is a repost based on my experience:

The clearest instructions can be found here:

All Firmware Novo Aurora mod by feiyu - SlateDroid.com - Page 36

You need to flash with using software called livesuit. Where to download it you can find in the thread signature.

No need to download cwm (clockwork mod recovery) as it is already inside the feiyu rom.

There is also a link in the thread signature that teach you how to boot up in cwm. After that, choose install zip file from sd card ( i.e the v03 patch if your screen is LG like mine) and then reboot system and all should be working fine.

Good luck!

LiveSuit is included in the aurora_v1_feiyu_mod(0429).rar ROM, so it's a must for you to download it.

Read the INSTALLATION GUIDE in that first post.

The aurora_v1_feiyu_mod(0429).rar file does not have Livesuite. But manage to get the livesuite from another source. follow instruction to Flash Aurora. Firmware went thru, system started but the screen not functioning to touch. Any suggestion?

Now I also cant off the Aurora, :(
(Ok, fig out force shut down, power N + button )

Your model would probably be the 2nd or 3rd version. Find out which one is yours, download the "screen patch file" and transfer the zip file(do not unzip) onto a micro sd card and slot it into your aurora.

Use the method given in the slatedroid guide CWM, and install the patch from there.

Basically, try understanding the guide better and you'll eventually get it. Good Luck!

P.S. I just got mine and figured it all out within a night =P
