Mine is almost half of compressor spoilt. Coz change the whole condenser is 2k.your contact is also Aircon service company?
erm i was aiming this set too. :s13:

yeah around there if include their labor costs. That time i was quote nearly 2k....lol.

Change the whole system only,
1. gas leak
2. compressor spoilt, not worth the repair.

But your system is relative new, maybe u seek advise from the professional.

FN released on 2017, so the system is relative new....not much second hand for parts scraping. If they get directly from mitsubishi or agents, the parts are expensive.

i got 2 contact if u need, average market price but that guy is very honest in dealing business. Another 1 freelance, he may get u cheaper solution.

got to ask this from more experienced people, especially those who might have Daikin.
I recently moved into this house which has Daikin fan coil FTKS35DVM. not sure the model of external unit.
These days it rains a lot so humidity is around 80%.
As far as i understand when turn on the aircon, it should reduce the humidity. For some reason, even if I set the temperature to 25 or 24 (fan speed highest), the room temp decreases as expected, but humidity remains the same - around 80% !!
tried its "dry mode" too - it makes the fan run at a very slow speed, but again, humidity remains around 77-78%.
called up their technical team and they say - "this aircon is not dehumidifier". I was shocked to hear it.

Previously have had a split aircon (not sure which brand) which surely reduces humidity, then last house I had Europace casement Aircon - also kept humidity around mid-60s even if I set it to 26C temperature. very comfortable and can easily dry clothes at that setting if its too rainy outside !!
here even my hand towel does not dry by morning, if i wipe my face at night !
certainly not normal - or could be that this fan coil really cannot reduce humidity ?

now thinking of getting a dehumidifier, but I think that would increase the heat in the room or would be like an additional compressor running - more utility bill.

another thing i notice is that the ducting goes up to the ceiling first and then goes out of the room. I wonder how the water is supposed to rise up to drain outside. I am actually not sure where the water drainage pipe is !! its not outside on the ledge.

any comments from Daikin users or others ?
Aircon should naturally be a dehumidifier

I'm in a similar situation with same model. I'm currently looking for a 2nd hand outdoor unit. If can't a suitable one in a couple of months then I'm changing the whole aircon to midea or Panasonic. No more starmex or expensive brands for me. Was quoted around 1.2k for repair. Replacement midea sys 3 less than 2k

You still haven't fix your aircon? I remember you shared your story a few months back.

Sorry to bump this up. Do anyone know?

I don't think anyone will have an accurate answer for you. But I believe the consumption for 1 vs 2 or 3 are non linear.

If you want to be critical about the consumption, just monitor using an AMI meter.

The technical team is ********ting you. Aircon is naturally a dehumidifier cos is remove moisture by condensing water on its coils by making the coil cold and when air pass through the coil, it removes heat thus it makes the air colder. Dehumidifier usually has a built in heater to heat up the cold dry air after passing through the coil so that the temperature remains the same

However, you should not set the fan speed to highest. Set to lowest so that the heat exchange is at its minimal so water can condense more on the coils and the temperature drop wun be so fast. If u set highest fan speed, the heat exchange is very fast and will reach desired temp very fast den the compressor will signal to the coil to be not so cold.

Yes I think so too. There is no easy way to tell unless u can measure the current and compare between the different situations

gc recommend me Mitsubishi or toshiba

i see malaysian is using R32 e.g midea, daikin etc
i feel like we are lacking trained tech to handle r32 aircon....

Mitsubishi's 1st model of the popular "GE" inverter series was released almost 9-10 years ago and remained one of Singapore's top selling AC models for the past decade with some suppliers still holding stock for this model till today.

The GE series was initially rated as a "4-tick" series at the time of its inception. However, a revamp of the NEA energy rating system in 2014 meant that this rating was revised to '2 ticks' with the new system.

With the FN series, Mitsubishi hopes to make adjustments to the problems that had plagued the FJ series. The units are generally smaller which make them perfect for installation at smaller homes and the condenser is quieter. The cover can also be more easily removed as compared to the GE series.

As of March 2019, this is still the newest model available and complaints have been few with reliability still playing a huge role in the Mitsubishi brand name,

Mine is almost half of compressor spoilt. Coz change the whole condenser is 2k.your contact is also Aircon service company?
yeah, he do the quotation for customers.

no worries, he is honest...not the cheapest in market but he will solve your problem and upfront with the bill. won't charge extra etc....
i pm u the contact....just get second advise from the professional....:)

Was thinking to install 2 set of Daikin i5mile series (MKS80TVMG - 36 btu)for my new 5 rm bto flat. 1 combination CTKS71TVMG (24 btu for hall) + CTKS35TVMG (12 btu for mbr) 2nd combination CTKS50TVMG (17 btu for dining) + 2xCTKS25TVMG (9 btu for both chr), was quoted $6,650 with upgraded installation. Is it ex and if the combination make sense?

if you still looking for AC, perhaps u can try Mega discount store in Kallang, went there shopping for electronic products for my new house, saw the Aircon sale guy (a skinny not too tall indian) and asked for his quote. If don't remember wrongly, he was trying to introduce LG, but I was more or less going for Daikin and asked him to quote that instead. Went a few more stores to compare the price, none quoted close to what he has given me, even my contractor is still slightly higher by a hundred or so. Not sure about their installation service though, just want to share a bit here. I am likely to go thru my contractor for the Aircon, purely just easier for him to coordinate during the renovation since the price is only different by $100 plus.

Hi,

Inverter compressor is always running when one unit is turned ON. So when two unit is turned ON, compressor is having more load thus it need more controlling and a little more electricity.

My question i would like to know is how much more electricity is used comparing turning on 1 unit vs 2 unit or even 3 unit? Eg. Does the unit 1 consume 50% compressor load, while turning on another unit consume another 10% more and so on? Any expert can advise?

3G28VA2 combination chart

19448 btu to 1 20k btu fcu uses 1.69kwh

19448 btu to 3 fcu 6482 btu x 3 uses 1.17kwh

if you install 2nd system for the living room, it is better to have 3 fcu instead of 1 18k-24k btu fcu.

@wongmm so starmex is known for reliability is it?

for me as existing user, yes
then for sales/techie, they also recommend starmex, daikin, youme

things do spoil....depend on ratio and batch.

from what i see now, the pcb control the motor more frequently...causing it to die within 2 years....this maybe 1 of the unlucky ones or batches issue.

if u scroll back....pretty much all brands will have unlucky ones....so hard to determine.

then i found out midea got 2 years warranty on parts....

i see a lot of people here install starmex or daikin....then after that, not active anymore.... supposedly people only come here when aircon got issues. :)

u follow ur heart cause aircon is very headache when got unsolved issues. :(

Aircon should naturally be a dehumidifier

Your aircon capacity probably too high for the room. Room cools down faster than it can dehumidify. Like others said, only thing you can do is to run at minimum fan speed, but this isn't that good for the ac long run coz it might risk condensation on the trunking due to the very cold pipes and slow heat transfer at slow fan speeds.

Duct wise, the only time that it can go upwards if they have a drain pump, but generally not supposed to go against gravity.

1 is spoil after 2 year+...

this bf.....
midea system 3 $2200~$25xx
daikin system 3 $2600~$29xx
ME system 3 stagnant price.

If ME really got this issue, really speechless loh.

ME 5 tick starmex PCB issues seem to be common.

but i dunnoe leh......ME occupied 50% market share.... then a few cases....
the sales/tech still recommend ME....

so maybe is batch problem?

i also looking at panasonic aircon....erm...

I mean if it's a batch problem the ideal service recovery would be to do a recall or at least offer goodwill repair for the affected batch. They chose to just keep quiet and give the textbook replies that it's "out of warranty" and expect the customer to foot a repair bill that's 1/3 the price of the whole system which just reflects poorly on them. Spending 4.5k on an ac system for it to last 18 months is pretty pathetic. So whoever wants to buy ME make sure to the purchase extended warranty.

I won't totally sh*t on ME cos my parents using the previous 2 tick model for almost 10 years with zero issues. I believe most of their market share came from that model.

That could be true. When room temperature is normally around 28 or 29, if I set the temperature to 25, within 15-20 mins the room becomes quite cold.

Recently one service guy came for cleaning the aircon (not from Daikin) and said this condo usually have internal piping going within the wall to the bathroom - so we cannot see the drain pipes. He did clean them with the vacuum. I have 2 internal fan units connected to 2 external units. This smaller one for master room and a larger one for living room.

Yes, I saw this relation between fan speed and dehumidification, so I am trying to use the fan at 2 or 3 speed (out of 5) and use a stand fan to circulate air.

Now I bought a Xiaomi temperature and humidity monitor, which should be accurate.
What i observed is that when I turn on the aircon, the humidity goes down to about 71%, and then slowly keeps increasing. Overnight it remains around 85% and temperature around 26C (this is cold mode set at 25C).

Another thing I read - hot air has more capacity to hold water, while cold air holds less. So maybe even though the aircon removes some moisture, because now the temp is lower - the relative humidity remains the same.
So it leads to an uncomfortable feeling - cold and humid.:(

Had tried to use Dry mode, but didn't make much difference - as it should be essentially the same - some preset temperature and fan at low speed.

seems to only solution is to get a separate dehumidifier - which is like a mini aircon. :s22:

Wonder if any other Daikin users observed such issue.

Remember long time back in another house the split aircon drainage had got jammed. During that time before the service people came to clear it - it used to rain water from the drainage tray which I had to collect in a bucket and then throw.
that aircon was damn efficient. :D
surely was not a daikin, probably a mitsubishi.
