Definitely does help to reduce. Have tested with one of those taobao WCLH particulate testers. I also keep windows and doors closed most of the time, even then there will be a certain level of indoor dust.

Just did a quick test. Living room without AP on, value for PM2.5 is 15-20. Bedroom with AP on (AX40), value for PM2.5 is 1-2.

How much did get for the WCLH particulate testers? Is it a device to check pm 2.5 levels ?

The Xiaomi purifiers mobile app already will show the PM2.5 levels (can use that as a very rough estimation of whether your indoor air is improving or detoriating... good enough imo).... unless you really want something to bring around and test.

Look at older thread. Have a lot of talks about the PM2.5 devices. Majority bought from Taobao.

Yup. Thanks. The mi purifier pm2.5 sensor can be very inaccurate at times. Expecially for Xiaomi Purifier 2, fluctuate fast, not for the gen 1.

I saw there is a listing for xiaomi pm2.5 sensor which cost around $70-$80 on taobao. So expensive..

It fluctuates even for those PM2.5 devices. The readings do not stay there as per se.

I have the B4 (the pic shown above post). The readings fluctuates, moves and moves. Doesn't "stay" one. Is normal.

Can't recall correctly, maybe roughly $60-$70 after shipping.

WCLH refers to the seller/shop name on taobao "微创联合".

Yes, it's a particulate detector. PM 2.5, 1.0, 10 also can check. But don't expect the numbers to correspond to any established index as they all use a different formula, but it serves more as a personal guage if your AP is doing it's job, and when compared with other users using detectors with the same/similar module.

The Mi Air Purifier Pro should be more accurate, since it uses a laser sensor not the older IR type, which is used in both gen 1 and 2 i think.

They are pretty ok, just need to standardise input airflow to be 35%RH which NEA does it measurements. Ie they heat the input airflow with a 1.6kW vari power heater.

Post the deep details later.

TSI Dust Trak II, a pretty expensive laser particle counter. Vs the cheap TB laser particle modules. Both would still be screwed quite a bit by the high relative humidity if you don't normalise the inlet to be 35% RH by heating the sampling flow.

Anyway, NEA is not using laser optical scattering, but probably Beta Attenuation Method.
(you can see the 2 reels of measurement tapes)

Vs the Met One BAM 1020, quite a bit off. 150 (i know can't see very clearly) vs 247 ug/m3

Ya... But not cheap. The Mi Pro mobile app interface same as Gen2 and after some time, the Mi Pro will also auto trigger back to auto slow mode instead of staying full blast all the way - just like Gen2.

Also. I saw that the purifier pro, the top fan is non removable. Hard to clean unlike gen 1

Hi folks,

Have been posting in the aircon cleaning thread. Pls take a look if you are interested.

The more i have been digging through all the info, the more i am convinced that the aircon coils is the main source of "indoor pollution" that is causing all the allergic rhinitis, respiratory airway issues and infections and other similar issues. In addition to the dust mite dropping allergen on the bed (lots of dustmites and its droppings is probably in the aircon too anyway, feasting on the skin flakes and dander etc).

I used to just suspect that, but pretty much convinced. Though specifically in your own case, that may or may not be the specific allergen that you are sensitive to (and depends on the concentrations as well).

Just a quick google :

Probably HEPA filtration esp with a high ACH Air change per hour controls this source pollution pretty effectively? Vs dust mite droppings, coz on the beddings they are still somewhat heavy and don't really float that long a distance to be filtered by the AP. So limited in its help.

should be. It was recommended for air purifiers to have HEPA. Had been using one with HEPA. my sinus, runny nose now not as many as it was before
