doesnt the original blue type come with activated carbon filter as well ?
i refer to the link below, it stated "high-density EPA filter and activated carbon filter"

http://www.mi.com/en/air2/filter/
Yes it does (at least my purchased blue type has). Same goes to the purple antibacterial one. But both very thin. If want a "separate removable" thicker one, will be the green enhanced type.

What is the difference between the Xiaomi gen-2 and the gen-2s in terms of specs?
I do prefer the gen-2 though, without the LED screen for a cleaner minimalist look.
The led screen would be a "distraction" at night with its blue or green lights.. :s11:

Not sure about 2s.. But the pro able to turn off the display (light) via the mobile app. I presume the 2s should be able too?

Screenshot of the app for pro.

Those air purifier with positive, negative ions (I think is Sharp plasmacluster), do you all really feel the effect of negative ions? Is it feel more energy, alert or what? You all really feel something or not worth it.

So basically with the AX40 with 25RMB filter and Xiaomi AP2 with 50RMB filter, you can do close to 24/7 at the lowest possible filter recurring cost.

Hey Bro WRXL,

sorry don't flame me pls as I haven't been following this thread for a long time, I've searched the RMB25, 3rd party filter for samsung AP but cannot find. can share the URL? :s34:

paisay and tqvm

I am using this guy. This is the same size, but with 45mm depth, only the HEPA media. Airflow speed is like 80-90% of the original Samsung filter despite the deeper depth (deeper pleats). So for sure the CADR would suffer somewhat.
Original samsung HEP portion is like 38mm, with 10mm depth for the activated charcoal.

RMB 115. So basically ~ SGD 30 after factoring in shipping + packaging.
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3-c.w4002-1526560714.10.gZRvjN&id=522668837488

edit - i think you better aliwangwang him for details. Coz i think this rmb 115 price is 45mm depth HEPA filter. The details also show a black AC layer, in which case he'd probably spec either 30mm or 35mm depth for the HEPA, and the rest for the activated carbon layer.

Qoo10 Daiso is selling the original filter for $55 + $12 shipping. :s12:

I noted that Xiao mi AP uses a H11 HEPA filter. Is this a true HEPA filter ? Previously I used Honeywell AP , I think they used H13. Is there any significant difference ?

Honeywell filter is much thicker relatively speaking.

I was using Honeywell purifier previously too. But locally the filters are getting more n more expensive.

If costing not your concern, then continue use your Honeywell.

For me, Xiaomi is good enough. Was testing using my standalone PM2.5 device on both Xiaomi & Honeywell last time. Both works well for me.

washable pre filter still ok.

the actual filter? if its a decent hepa filter i dont think i wanna be washing it.

You are right. I bought a LG and it also said the hepa filter is washable. After I washed it its filtering ability dropped like shxt. It's washable but no guarantee it will work like as before lol.

Also, when i opened the box, realized the filter is not in a sealed bag. Is the number of days correct for 1st day usage?

well, its very simple. cut open a hepa filter and see how it looks like. it doesnt make any sense for u to be washing this kinda thing. or even go scrub it.

My Honeywell is faulty thus looking for new AP. For Honeywell the HEPA don't need regular replacement . Just need to replace the pre filter every 3 mth.

Probably will get xiaomi AP. Still

thinking to get gen 2s or pro version.
How often do u change the Xiao mi HEPA filter ?

When you experienced terrible haze .... even Honeywell hepa also got smell. Have to change after haze over. At least that's what happened to me previously.

Xiaomi filter if u want to follow according to their app indicator... think can last long especially if seldom use. lol

Depending on usage. For me I don't follow. Left around 50% I go change.
