Just curious, how can those Novita, Sharp & Philips AP command such high prices, e.g. >$300? Wouldn’t the xiaomis outright beat them?

I am using Samsung ax041. When I turn on the purifier, there is power on but it keep blinking at the auto button. The manual say bring to service centre. Any bros know what could be the likely problem? Bought in 2014, think this model obsolete already

Search this thread. Few days ago got someone mentioned same oroblem and found the solution.

Problem solved....go china server...link....than SG server , everything ok liao...heng!

OK tks, got it working at last. :D

Noticed that the Remaining Days got reset to 145days when I put in new filter, but Clean Air Delivered and Running Time were not reset. Is that how it's meant to be?

Google “AX40 blinking light” . And go to the 3rd result, the hardwarezone thread. Two solutions were posted in the thread. About pressing the some buttons tgt for initialisation to get it work again.

I forgotten which method I tried before. Last time kana before - when I still had my AX40. And it works. Hopefully it works for you too even tho’ yours is AX41.

Any users of Samsung AX40 knows, if I can use water to rinse the back-plate mesh (not the filter media) of the filter?:

In addition, is this filter considered fully-used?:

U can wash the plastic mesh prefilter (your first pic) But make sure fully dry before put back.

The HEPA filter (your second pic) looks still pretty decent to me. I don’t consider that as fully used.

Due to the plastic smell making me nausea... :(

The air filter only. I’m getting new one. Any reliable source?

All china brandless filters would have this smell. Be it the 25-30rmb DIY HEPA ones or the 80-120rmb 320 x 285mm ones. All are using the same PP media.

Switch it on for 48hrs for the AX40 in low speed mode.

After 48hrs it'd be largely gone.

That smell is not poisonous, nor would it trigger allergic reactions in the sensitive group.

The filter is usable, checked with cigarette smoke (0.12 to 0.4 microns thereabouts) and laser particle counter sensitive down to 0.3 microns.

If still don't like this smell "problem", then get the originals, esp if one is just using the Air Purifier during haze season and not regularly.

There is an anna642 store on TB, the HEPA media that they are using is a bit different.

It gives quite a significantly higher airflow as the media has lower resistance. And even at lower resistance, on my laser particle counter, i could measure an even lower particle count. ie its CADR is higher.

I have used one pc before, literally no smell at or, as in you "air" it for 1-2 hrs and it's usable.

It's by Smart Air, that DIY Cannon filter thing operated by the Ang moh, i suspect the wife or sister or what is doing the sales or something.

But i am more of a rougher use pax, and i also tend to wanna change the filter twice a year. Coz no matter originals or China HEPA, i don't like to smell the PM.

Esp after every haze season's rough use, surely i wanna change the filter.
This 2019, confirm need to change each and every filter in the APs. And i have quite a lot.

Vivocity measured at about half of external levels.

Changi Airport (not sure which terminal), some bro measured to be slightly between 1/3rd and 1/2 of external.

BTW, OG People's Park (very newly renovated) was at 20 ug/m3 RAW when i measured it on Sunday.

It was doing 160-170 ug/m3 RAW on the meter outside.

And i am very sure that they do not even use H10 grade in the AHU.
Probably F8 or F9 at best, maybe even F7.
It is very likely that the overall airflow is high, ie a high ACH / Air Change Hour, internally. Also, they have a certain ACH for exchange with external air, coz for commercial buildings they need this to keep IAQ parameters like the CO2 levels low.

20 ug/m3 RAW on the meter is like what my meter would show Singapore's ambient air quality on a very good day.

Note - this is meter "RAW" reading is NOT NEA's 1hr PM2.5 concentration (ug/m3) number, the meter is usually higher than that.

Just changed new filter I bought since few years ago.

For Samsung AX40

But it reduced the airflow & also producing some plasticky smell since last night...

Will tio plastic poisoning in the end? :( I have kids at home... sigh...

Changing from the orignal AX40s to the TB ones, at least for the 300x300x25mm (then you cut one side up and stuff the other side up with plastic wrapping to reduce airflow) would make it an approx 220 m3/hr CADR machine from my calculations.
Original is around 320 m3/hr CADR.

That's still mighty fine for a BTO bedroom.
And more than sufficient ACH (at least 5X) for filtering allergens like dust mite droppings or mold spores that gets circulated by the AC FCU etc.
ie no issue for sensitive individuals.

I am able to get ~ 5 ug/m3 on the meter with external levels well above 100 ug/m3 But very small gap at the windows, maybe 2-3mm, but CO2 levels already getting pretty high at ~ 1500 ppm on the meter. Usually i like to leave 5-10mm gap at the windows.

TLDR all the dry data and stuff like that -

1. Use the TB filters with confidence. You cannot get any lower cost + more cost effective solution than this. Esp if your AP is purchased from Carousell and DIY cleaned and sanitised with alcohol (I have 2 additional AX40s bought at just 50 bucks 60 bucks lol!)

2. For the smell issue, air the filter in your AP in low speed mode for 48 hours prior to usage. If you have use for it at night, maybe change it back to the ex/original filter, before continuing the next morning.

3. It is especially good for those who want to spend the least amount of money for max performance. And also for the lower income groups. Lower income groups also have lungs and they should have access to good clean air as well.

Hi, do you mean that for those with this problem, they have to change the server in their Mi home app to handshake with China server once, then subsequently swing back to using SG server?
