I think you are no stranger to APs and their noise levels already. IF you find that the 611 noise level in Turbo mode is ok even for slightly extended operation like 1-2 hrs, then the XM2 would be ok. I have not compared them A-B directly side by side, but from what i played in 611 in the stores and XM2 at my home, i think the XM2 jet mode would be wee bit slightly noisier than 611 in Turbo.

In that case, the XM2 would be fine.
Understand. It's the noise levels that you were comparing.

I run my Novitas in auto mode 24/7. So it's quite silent because after the first few days of detecting "bad air quality", it has been mostly good since. Turbo mode is quite noisy but it is not a frequent event.

Thanks for the sharing :)

so its just a matter of taking out the existing cable and plug in the BS1363? the same cable we power up monitors and desktops?

i ordered for the IEC styled, 3-pin BS1363 cables from Taobao too. 1.5m long each, Mickey-mouse output. best not to use travel adapter for regular usage.

I have the Midea KJ30FR-NV3 so i am very familiar with the sound levels. Note that the second fan speed (49.8dB) is already noticeably louder than the AX40 in HIGH fan speed.

So you all make the decision

Power consumption is 54W in 388 m3/hr jet mode.

For those who wants to beef up their living room stuff.

Just chuck it into the corner and out of sight out of mind.
RMB238, manual 1-touch 3 modes fan speed control. Low, Medium, High.
Hope the spacing between med and high is ok.

Dafug, DIY can do it correctly vs Xiaomi and Samsung. !@#!@#^$%#%

This one would be loud, don't expect too much. But hey, the RMB699 and RMB899 options are loud as well. So no real loss. :D
Don't expect this one to work well in the bedroom also as a DAILY USER, though i really don't know how it does and measures in real life.

Decent SPLs would mean AX40, but hey you gotta pay for it + the $$ filters. That means 2 units for the living room.

The packaged filter in the RMB 238 package would probably be H10-H11 grade, be prepared to get that. But then after that you can order the original XM filters. But i measured others before with the laser particle counters, pretty ok lah.

Handys quite itchy to try, unfortunately this year no haze risk. :(

Fan is NMB, so is well-known branded.

23 watts full power. Suspect airflow won't be that high.
But it is a very small unit.

I only have Singapore, TW, n India.. tried TW and doesnt work (汗)

try until you succeed. i was somehow able to do it for android... with a song and dance routine :s13:

correct for part 1, wrong for part 2.... the IEC type we use for monitors is D-shaped, but for XM1/2 we need Mickey Mouse...

Thanks! In between my last message, Qxpress delivered my XM2 at almost 10pm! I must say the setup including the cloud setup was relatively simple and took me about 10mins or less - no need to read the instruction booklet at all. Have also use my extra 3-pin notebook plug which solve the cable issue :).

Overall, quite please with this purchase from "unknown" Qoo10 vendor - well protected in bubble wraps, delivered within 6 business days, working well (so far!), easy cloud setup & paid a very reasonable price after various Qoo10 discounts :s12:. The sound level setting it at max mode is not too bad - IMO, still softer than my Honeywell but marginally louder than AX40.

Yes......can

Set the air-con to not be any lower than 26 deg C. In a regular HDB + 9000 btu/hr FCU combo, you'd find that the RH probably does not dip below 65% RH in the long run.

Only spend your hard-earned dollars on a humidifier if you really need to set it to like 24 deg C.

Piezo-electric "mist" type of humidifiers usually would cause the PM2.5 levels to rise. This is because the tap or boiled water is not pure, so energizing and pumping the water into ultra fine droplets means that everything in the water is also put into the air.
The other type which uses a water wick is fine, but it will cause mold growth in the long run, so the receptable and water wick needs cleaning/replacement.

I've been using the aircon at 26C for a long time already, yet in the morning still have the "dry nose, throat and mouth" problem. :s22:

I'm looking for a tool to measure the PM level, which is a decent and affordable enough model?

The only difficulty i had when installing the Mfresh app for my M8088A was that i forgot to turn off (or was fidgeting with the settings) the Allow installation of apps from unknown sources or outside of Google Play store. So after scanning the Q code, i was unable to install it but not much of an error msg help. But generally it's quite ok, for those who are wondering.

Your set's max setting is only marginally louder than the AX40? I'm not sure if your nowadays or your Xiaomi was set the favourite mode (the bottom most fan speed) to default at a lower fan speed. :s13:

Coz with the short amt of time that i managed to test it last year, the difference was huge. The AX40 sounds like the M8088A fan speed mode 2 in the vid and the SPL measurements indicate a big difference as well (though my real SPL meter is faulty, so only used SPL phone app to relatively compare).

Of course, you can set the favourite mode to hold the speed setting at medium fan speed (i read that it's infinitely variable) from the app instead of max or any of the higher fan speed. So you'd need to "size" the AP accordingly wrt room size.

More info (posted 1 page ago):

Measured was 65dB or 58dB depending on how you look at it. The others from Panasonic/Philips are 50, the AX40 should be like mid 40s if compare with the others. That's still a lot, despite being lower than XM1. (and with XM1 having slightly higher CADR)

I noticed that Xiaomi has lowered the CADR a bit in the 标准fan speed to be 310 m3/hr down from previous 330 m3/hr. Not much of a concern though.

Ok i got it, posted in post #378 9th Dec.

http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/98522765-post378.html

On uncalibrated phone SPL app. Distance @ 1m approx.
(Note : it is uncalibrated, so take the levels on a relative basis, ie 10dB on the phone is not 10dB in real life)

Phone was placed on a chair, unmoved static position

MFresh M8088A
Speed 2 (326 m3/hr) = 36 dB
Speed 3 (520 m3/hr) = 47dB (yes, it's pretty loud)

Xiaomi 2 330 m3/hr = 49dB No it's not a typo. It's very loud.
Xiaomi Auto (presume it's low speed coz it's green LED) = 34 dB

Samsung AX40 high speed (323 m3/hr) = 38dB (official spec = 45dB)

As some of you would recall, previously there was some discussion/debate with bro Mindgamey with regards to the Mfresh M8088A and Xiaomi ver 1 AP's noise levels. Coz I mentioned quite a few times that I would personally not recommend ver 1 esp not in the bedroom due to the noise. There is a lower mode at 271 m3/hr and bro mindgamey measured with a calibrated SPL meter at 54dBA @ 1m (A weighting)

Seriously, with what I have played with the XM2, I would still make the same conclusion though bro mindgamey's opinion is that it's all cool and of coz I'd respect that as with anybody else's opinion as well. But do note that a few folks here and qoo10 reviews have already mentioned that even the Samsung AX40 in HIGH (323 m3/hr) needs a bit of getting used to in the bedroom as well.
The XM version 2 is supposed to be a fair bit less noisy.

I haven't got the chance to access the medium speed coz I believe the app will let you access all the modes, and I don't have time to install and pair up the device. This medium speed at low to mid 200 m3/hr would probably be the speed that you'd be opting to be at for 99.9% of the time. From the button on top, first mode is Auto (beginning of the video above), after that is Sleep mode, after that is the High speed mode (330m3/hr). Jet mode probably is to be selected via the Xiaomi app.

^^^
Edit - Auto fan speed first. Then sleep mode. Then Favourite mode, the icon of a pax with a heart. This fav mode is fan speed settable.

Think Seshuan still has some WCLH laser particle counters on hand from his last order, with particle counts out somemore. Pretty affordable.

Do you have any thermometer and RH meter to check the real conditions in your room? Maybe can adjust a bit to suit you more.
