I thought it might be too cheap to be true, thanks for confirming it.
No problem. Actually current prices and filters are extremely low already.....so go ahead and invest in one first and check it out.
Together with Carousell, air purifiers should not present much of a financial constraint issue for everyone, even for the low income families. Having 2-3 APs shouldn't be an issue even for those young parents etc.
Rant a bit....

But yeah, of course, there are still those parents who can spend thousands of dollars on trips, toys, expensive infant formula, expensive pre-school classes and top-end childcare etc, but find a $200-300 AP to be expensive and unnecessary expenditure for their infant/kids. Even though it's already an advanced 2016 now + with so many prev haze episodes and even specialist visit/A&E/24-hr clinic and once even hospitalisation admissions for their infants and kids. *shrugs*

Worse still, such high levels and long duration might an trigger an allergic reaction that could stay with the kids for many many years, sometimes for life. This is not simply something that you can attach a dollar-value to it man....
Got a few in my workplace....it's weird, really makes no sense to me. They choose to believe "la sup jiak la sup dua" since it's "organic" haze, which has been medically proven to be untrue for air pollution/biomass haze.
Last time, it used to cost > 1k to clean a living room area, with > $100 recurring cost (filters). Only the well-to-do can afford to filter a whole apartment or even landed property.
Now, no more.
Unless, of course, your house/room isn't air conditioned.

2015 and now 2016 heat is no joke.
