Anyone tried the black colour true HEPA filter for xiaomi air purifier? Realise it is compatible with older models like 2S or 2. The filter abit more ex, around $50 as compared to green/purple/blue filter. Is it worth it?

If u did not get it within next few days, better to file to play safe.

Guess i will do that tomorrow. Courier company said they need 48 hrs to investigate. Apparently someone signed it and written my first name on it, too bad my signature is not my first name.

New filter model? Got link? Wait...the usual 3 colours is not (true) HEPA?

Digged a little more, i have long suspected and assumed that airconditioning FCUs have dust mite droppings (the allergens are in the droppings) and contributes to airborne allergenic spread, but never really go digged for scientific proof.

This has implications in both DIY Aircon cleanings and air purification/filtration (enough ACH please, people buy APs but then stick them into low speed quiet mode and then deem them to be useless. If light sleeper, you'd need multiple units in a room)

Well this is it
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4443215/

Abstract
We detected the concentration of dust mites allergen (Der f1 & Der p1) in the air of different places before and after the starting of air-conditioners in Wuhu City, Anhui, China, and to discuss the relation between the dust mites allergen in air-conditioner filters and the asthma attack.

The concentration of Der f1 & Der p1 in air was higher after the air-conditioners starting one hours later, and the difference was significant (P<0.05, respectively). Additionally, dot-ELISA findings revealed that the allergen extracted from the dust was capable of reacting with IgE from the sera of asthma mice allergic to dust mites. The study concludes that air-conditioner filters can enrich dust mites major group allergen, and the allergens can induce asthma. The air-conditioner filters shall be cleaned or replaced regularly to prevent or reduce accumulation of the dust mites and its allergens.

Save the money, you won't notice the difference, nor will you be able to measure the difference with laser particle counters in real world conditions in the room (been testing for so many years already). All the filters can handle haze, allergens, and also have a MPPS of 0.3 microns.
What i have only measured to make a difference is the output vent air quality/PM concentration.

Coz CADR is dependent on both airflow volume and filtration efficiency.

I have tried with other "True HEPA" ie H13s and H10, H11, H12 whatever.
(I still have some Sharp H10 stocks actually, more than a decade old liao and still working).
I have both Sharp H10 and H13s, the H13 does put out a little lower airflow volume, so i believe CADR is around the same as the H10 overall.

However, i have also measured H13 Samsungs vs Taobao H11s. The latter is both lower in efficiency (around 90-93%) and also much lower in airflow speed on the anermometer (around 30% lower). But this is Samsung vs Taobao generics, totally different stuff and filter media material used (might be partially caused by the slightly lower pleating of the Taobao generics also, even though i made the dimensions to be of the same including the depth)

So there really are a lot of factors at play. Including the leakiness of the room in a dense haze episode. In short, you confirm won't be able to feel and know if the filter is H10 or H13. Those who went through 2015 haze season with meters in their hands would know this.

This is esp so with the harder times nowadays and for the next few years possibly.
Of coz if one is feeling rich and think you have lots of spare disposable income, then no issue just go ahead and spend the money.

PS. What actually really bothered me and my wife with regards to needing to changing the filter is the air filter smell. With the haze and air quality here in SG, it is rare to get a clogged filter, unless if you are really in a dusty area and you are pushing to 18 to 24 months (not supposed to do that in the first place also).

You push a filter past 12 months esp, be it Samsung, Sharp original filters or Taobao generics, you will sure get it one. Once i bought a Samsung AX40 second hand AP on carousell and OMG the filter smelled so damn bad. (it was $50 only, opened it up and cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and it's still operating now in my bedroom 5 years later).

Funnily, my Mfresh filter output doesn't smell that bad even at over 12 months.

And yeah, in 2015 after the haze season, all the aircons and filters all smelled damn bad, confirm need to change out. Many have complained about this.

sorry pardon my ignorance.

Why is there a need for humidifying ?

I thought our singapore weather already at least 80% humidity. (most of the time 90%+)

If aircon room, would it be enough to air the room to natural air during the day and aircon during the night? Or during the sleeping time the humidity will drop to below your requirements?

My 2s only appear in China region... All my other product in SG region -_- so troublesome
Ah ... so it's a common restriction ah?

At first all my xiaomi products I used china server. Then cos my xiaomi webcam (which i use as baby monitor) always timeout halfway during the night, I switched to SG server.

Tried to move the rest of my products to SG server as well, mostly all can except for my two 2s purifiers that even after adding to SG server, it won't "show up" on the app as a device ... :s22:

HealthPro 250 **

Anyone try IQAir Healthpro series? How is it? Does it really help with asthma and allergies ?

Saw this product when I saw an article about asthma from the facebook page : Supratechnic.IQAir.Singapore

I'm not sure whether this product will help. It seems good when saw the video of the Founder personally test the product, quite amazing of the outcome! Also saw from their articles that hospitals use that to prevent sars and covid-19...they wrote they are No 1 prevent Asthma n medical grade Swiss product that prevent asthma, allergies..want to find out more if you guys have bought it:)

Hi! Can I check if any air purifier can reduce cigarette smell?

need additional layer of activated charcoal filter to absorb the smell. Just the HEPA filter alone won't help (much). so you need to check the spec of the purifier to make sure its filter has that integrated charcoal filter layer.

(sorry if you looking for recommendation on specific brand/model, I will leave it to others. I am using Samsung/LG purifiers that I bought in 2015 so can't recommend the latest models)
