I have no odour in my house or bedroom for that matter, so that's not my focus. I just stated one main difference between A8000 vs A9000 which is deodorizing filter non washable vs washable on the other. I am purely looking for cleaning air in the bedroom / living room (especially that I have a small baby) and humidifying feature to moisturize bedroom during dry desert winters in Dubai.

Those are pretty expensive prices!

I think just hold off your purchase and see what you can buy on qoo10. I am sure as long as you are willing to pay a slight premium, the qoo10 Korean sellers can hook you up with a good package, if you were to buy say 1 or 2pcs AX40 and say 6pcs of the filters. I think you will be able to get $50 per piece of replacement filter, maybe even lower.

I mean heck.....they do FedEx, it would be no sweat. And Dubai is 230V 50Hz. No issue (SG is 240V and 50Hz)


Taobao will be much more trickier for Dubai.

I will have a look at qoo10. Voltage is not an issue, it's the same, even the plugs are 3-pin same like SG. The only problem can be not having a local warranty.

I have a great service here provided by Aramex, called ShopAndShip, so I have like 12 addresses around the world where I can order something and they will ship to me (something like comGateway, VPost etc). I have address in Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia. But here we have to add shipping fees which are around S$25 per kg, so this can make it pretty expensive.

Ugh...you had to throw in the humidity issue.

Those ultrasonic piezoelectric based humidifiers are not so good (I just recently found that out!), coz it's not good to use tap water as it'd be generate quite a fair bit of PM2.5 or finer stuff, ie anything that's in the tap water would get atomised and you'd be breathing that in if the air has not passed through the HEPA.

So.....your case is really tricky.

BTW, UAE (Dubai) is significantly more polluted in terms of PM2.5 than Singapore. We "only" hit 28 ug/m3 ANNUAL due to the El Nino effect + Sumatra/Kalimantan. UAE is 41 ug/m3.

So I guess you'd have to choose between Sharp and Hitachi. Just have to spend the money. It's really not a choice due to the baby, rather it's a MUST.

Amazon use Aramex to ship to SG as free ship (other than iparcel and FedEx/DHL). Think it's a arab coy or something....can't remember.

Yes, that's why I gave up using the original filters and be troubled with VOCs.

Seriously, after getting the CO2 meter, I found that die die must leave a 3mm gap at the window (door gap is a given, it's always there lol).

Then the CO2 would range between 800ppm to 1200ppm max. Really depends on the wind dir/wind speed Else it'd hit 2400-2600ppm max over the night.

There is a constant source of CO2 in the room by the humans. I have a TVOC meter as well, it probably isn't that good even if I were to compare it to a Sharp IR LED "PM2.5" sensor, I just know that usually we do not have a bi VOC issue in SG homes.

So just leave a slight gap for the door or windows in your aircon + APed room.

I am not sure where are the discrepancies coming from but where I live it is actually lower:

I can also get the Daikin MCK75P URURU with humidifying option here for around S$600 or Daikin MC70L without humidifying for S$650 and then buying humidifier separately. But it seems Daikin MC70L is quite outdated compared to Sharp and Hitachi.

Even with same brand...I think I need at least 2 sets of 1 model and 3 sets of another model to cover my house adequately. (Different size of areas needed to be covered)

Btw, I am considering if I should go for the multi brand/model approach. So if one brand or model stop production or the filter of a model is no longer available, I dun need to change all the affected APs at the same time. Very chor.

It has semi HEPA filter + electrostatic

Latest edit - Found the info. I posted in the next page, the TCK, ACK, MACK series are Japanese Domestic Market models...100V (not 110V).
The MC70, MCK57 range etc are 220-240V models intended for international markets.

They were measuring 341 m3/hr for the MC70 (which is approx. the same as the AX40 as the Chinese agencies measured 323 m3/hr for that), and the spec is 420 m3/hr airflow. Not too shabby. It's actually E10/HEPA 10 thereabouts




On the Chinese sites :
They advertise as electrostatic or 静电, if there is any "mechanical" HEPA, I suppose the percentage is much lower. The pleating is much wider, and they sell the replacement filter packs with the pleats all folded up.

But it is using the "ioniser" stage before the pleated filter to charge up the particulate matter so that it'd stick better....that is what the Chinese words say, to "cause the pollen and dust to carry a charge before being picked up by the electrostatic filter".
Same as the Blueairs (though the negative ion stage for blueair is just a simple pin I think.
