Renovation construction dust is probably coarse type PM10 or bigger.
Is definitely a risk in your new house, I have experienced before. Everyday wipe once also not enough due to neighbours. My 7 blocks got a total of 1878 households renovating at the same type.


Remember, your baby is the one staying at home 24/7, maybe you'd have parents coming over to take care for the first few months. Parents go to work in Grade AAA offices in MB, Somerset/Orchard, Suntec, Shenton Way, AHUs all equipped with F9 grade filters that would clean the air to safe 24-hr levels even if outside were PSI 300.

Novita, a bit expensive lah. Sometimes there are offer. Novita is a local brand but some models are China factory taobao models + 加工 and using better motors etc.

You don't have to add filters. I am talking about utilising the Sharp A80, but you probably would want coverage for living room PLUS bedroom coz it's not feasible to get holed up in a room for > 50% of the day/night. So you would need some auxillary filtration. 3M Filtrete is the affordable answer.
Picture this, you have an extremely powerful 28k BTU/hr aircon in the living room. You master bedroom would be cold, but just a bit. Would be nice if you have another mini aircon that's 3000 btu/hr inside + some fan to circulate the air from the living room to bedroom.

NEA and ST is keeping pretty mum this year round with regards to haze forecast compared to last year.


Try to leave a bit of gap in the doors/windows in the room that your baby is in, to prevent formaldehyde build up due to new furnitures. This places additional performance demands on your air purifier, so a Sharp A80 + 3M Filtrete would definitely be good.

Overpriced for the performance, but hey it's a Philips (you pay for the brand). If there's a good deal then can get. I got a unit from a special consignment of AC4002 in 2013 haze period through a friend, definitely not cheap then.

From my cursory glance at their models, I think can skip. The output very noisy relative to the airflow. This is esp important for the bedroom where folks will be sleeping. Noisy appliance = useless device.

Yes, got effect. But very expensive effect and seriously unless you have several KG of activated charcoal, it's gonna be slight.

Those deodorizer filters lose their effectiveness in just 2-3 months. I'd say, don't bother. Clean out your source smell, like changing out the bedsheets more frequently.

This too. Anyway Philips is not a major player in AP. Like I said, got mine in 2013 haze period. You can sell a no brand AP for $500 and still it'd be sold out in no time.

Yes same model. Best Denk taka did lelong the Sharp A80 ar 459 before till early Mar 2015, i did post here.

Too bad now potential haze season so they raised the price i guess.

If you are going to use these for daily use as a bid to reduce the need for washing the fan, don't. It reduces the airflow quite a fair bit + increases noise levels.

Can use this if it's for haze. It's just the 3M Filtrete in circular form so as to fit fans

Depends on your needs and wants ba. But its really low cost here (Amazon raised its price from usd4.97 to usd 9.78 liao). Each pack v light weight, less than 100g so 4PX cheap also.

AP is still needed for those in sensitive grps if you are guarding against > 3hr PSI 80.
Healthy pax, this would be good till maybe 3hr PSI 200?

Living room would need 2X of this, assuming doors/windows fully closed (aircon up to individual to arrange).

The tropical Pacific is in the early stages of El Niño. Based upon model outlooks and current observations, the Bureau's ENSO Tracker has been raised to El Niño status.

El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) indicators have shown a steady trend towards El Niño levels since the start of the year. Sea surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific Ocean have exceeded El Niño thresholds for the past month, supported by warmer-than-average waters below the surface. Trade winds have remained consistently weaker than average since the start of the year, cloudiness at the Date Line has increased and the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) has remained negative for several months. These indicators suggest the tropical Pacific Ocean and atmosphere have started to couple and reinforce each other, indicating El Niño is likely to persist in the coming months.

International climate models surveyed by the Bureau indicate that tropical Pacific Ocean temperatures are likely to remain above El Niño thresholds through the coming southern winter and at least into spring.

El Niño is often associated with below-average winter and spring rainfall over eastern Australia, and above-average daytime temperatures over the southern half of the country. However, the current May to July outlook suggests much of Australia is likely to be wetter than average. This is because a warmer-than-average Indian Ocean is dominating this outlook. El Niño is expected to become the dominant influence on Australian climate during the second half of the year.

From what i have measured in a v small room (new BTO small bedroom) and a powerful air purifier like the Samsung AX40...the PM2.5 levels only dropped 50% with the windows closed and doors opened. (This is not the PSI or AQI level)

Not v effective at all, and you are likely to wear out the HEPA v quickly like within 3 months if it gets moderately smokey.
