Is there a position to put the HEPA? I install diy one behind morris fan but the fan like no strength. I alww the seller she said HEPA got no direction one, both side also can

Google for Goh Ah Bee (Kovan). Lion City electronics (geylang, opp Lorong 39). And some if you usual neighbourhood stores. Hope you can get it for $459 (maybe nego to that price), but I reckon $475 can get.

kena budget cut ar... Generally, the affordable and good price-performance ratio of APs are LG and Samsung on Qoo10, direct ship from Korea. Occasionally, may have good deals on similar models locally.

Maybe get a LG LA-Q379SB or Samsung AX40 (both sub-$300), then standby pair with 3M electrostatic filter on aircon FCU, or DIY HEPA + fan. Standby plan is for hazy days.

According to Colorado State University hurricane scientist Phil Klotzbach, the seven storms so far in 2015 have been unusually strong: Northwest Pacific Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) was at record high through May 11 (78.1), just ahead of the old record of 77.7 in 1957. The early and violent start to 2015 typhoon season is due, in part, to exceptionally warm ocean temperatures in the typhoon breeding region between 5 - 10°N near the Date Line. These temperatures have been over 2°C (3.6°F) above average in recent months, due to a strengthening El Niño event.

If you're referring to the +$78 (or around there) option, that's the extra filter. In the purifier unit already come with one set of filter.

APs are very simple devices, just a wee bit more complex than a KDK fan with functions. There's no need for a manual. My 19 mth old can switch it on and scroll through the speeds on the Samsung, LG and Sharps. The Novita at my parent's place is a bit more difficult coz it's tucked right in at a corner and blocked by his pampers.

ENSO Alert System Status: El Niño Advisory




Synopsis: There is an approximately 90% chance that El Niño will continue through Northern Hemisphere summer 2015, and a greater than 80% chance it will last through 2015.

By early May 2015, weak to moderate El Niño conditions were reflected by above-average sea surface temperatures (SST) across the equatorial Pacific (Fig. 1), and by the corroborating tropical atmospheric response. The latest weekly Niño indices were +1.2oC in the Niño-4 region, +1.0oC in the Niño-3.4 region, and +1.2oC and +2.3oC in the Niño-3 and Niño-1+2 regions, respectively (Fig. 2). Subsurface temperature anomalies remained substantially above average (Fig. 3), partly in response to a downwelling oceanic Kelvin wave, which resulted in strong positive subsurface anomalies across the central and eastern Pacific (Fig. 4). This anomalous warmth has subsequently persisted in association with El Niño-related ocean-atmosphere coupling. This coupling includes enhanced convection over the central equatorial Pacific (Fig. 5), along with persistent low-level westerly wind anomalies over the western and central equatorial Pacific and persistent upper-level easterly wind anomalies over the central Pacific. Also, the equatorial Southern Oscillation Index (EQSOI) remained negative during the month. Collectively, these features reflect weak to moderate strength El Niño conditions.

Nearly all models predict El Niño (3-month values of the Niño-3.4 index 0.5oC or greater) to continue throughout 2015, and many are also predicting SST anomalies to increase during the next several months (Fig. 6). These forecasts are supported by the continuation of positive subsurface temperature anomalies, enhanced convection near the Date Line, and the persistence of low-level westerly wind anomalies. Given these factors, it is likely that SST anomalies will continue to increase in the coming months. However, model forecast skill tends to be lower during the Northern Hemisphere spring, which somewhat limits confidence in these forecasts. Therefore, there remains considerable uncertainty about how strong this event may become. In summary, there is an approximately 90% chance that El Niño will continue through Northern Hemisphere summer 2015, and a greater than 80% chance it will last through 2015 (click CPC/IRI consensus forecast for the chance of each outcome for each 3-month period).

Nope.

What you can do though, is to close the living room door (kitchen door?) and windows. Switch on the 2-3 rooms aircon, or close any of the room.
Mix in 1 or 2 or 3 air purifiers. Aircon FCU put 3M Filtrete. Additional 1 or 2 fans in the living room with 3M Filtrete.

Don't worry about the electricity when "extending it to the living room", it won't be that much for that few periods of haze. Still much better than installing an aircon!

Haze periods usually occur during hot periods anyway, no point saving electricity then.

Buy already just switch on. The APs draw v little power.

Eg Samsung AX40 costs $32 per yr to run 12 hrs daily on max speed.

If yr requirement is not high, run it on high for a few hrs and throttle down to low during sleeping hours.

Nothing is very expensive in the world of Amazon, Taobao + partially supported by qoo10/rakuten/lazada/ebay. You do not need to be an "semi-elite" before you can enjoy such stuff

I am using this model, just that it has remote control on the handle. This one is manual, but basically same construction. Variable power adjustable.

I think during offer at BEST, the Philips i saw at S$239 or something.
Philips also has the H10 main bags, green colour Philips brand one. Easily available. Just that Amazon a wee bit cheaper.

The motor and suction is very good. Silent etc. Enough power for H10 main bag and H13 exhaust, got HEPA seal at the exhaust etc. I have tested the output of the vacuum with my laser particle counter even though the H10 main bag has lots of shiat. It's legit.

Don't have to go for BOSCH or Rowenti, Miele. Or 3k SGD Dolphin/Rainbow.

More and more, yes. Actually SW monsoon over here, we get SE winds generally. When there is a Low Pressure Area @ South China Sea or strong typhoon at PAR/Philippines Area of Responsibility or off China coast, we do get W and SW.

The very early morning and early morning, sometimes late night thunderstorm bands coming from Riau, are called Sumatran Squalls.

Basically you would want Nino 4 to be as cool as possible and the others to be as warm as possible for a strong El Nino. Its the temperature gradient between 4 and the others that's key, pulls the clouds and rain to the east.
Cloud seeding wont work much...
