I have unpacked the LG PS-R459 (cousin model of the qoo10 LA-Q379SB) and measured the original LG HEPA vs Taobao HEPA windpseed.

I previously mentioned 1 page ago that the Taobao HEPA is + 1kph more than the ORiginal LG. This is incorrect, it should be 2kph, or +10%. This is in high speed. So whatever the Taobao HEPA loses in efficiency, it gains back in airflow. And the loss in efficiency (0.3 microns) is just like 3-4%. The higher airflow definitely more than enough compensates back. No noticeable increase in sound levels.

In medium speed is also +1.7kph with the Taobao HEPA. This works out to be +10% over the original LG HEPA.

how is the review on Samsung AX9000?

Oh, you talking about this one.

It's better to get 3-4 pcs of Samsung AX40. Too loud.

Besides, it's impossible to ship over.

I bought the replacement filters for Sharp Y30 from TB. They gave 2 felt-material pre-filters for every filter. Noob question, do I use 2 pieces of pre-filters or 1? The original filter don't come with these, so I'm unsure.

They also gave me half-sized pre-filters. What are they for?

Thanks in advanced.

Dont really need the prefilters since most APs already have prefilters anyway. Dont put the thick ones since the HEPA is not costly anyway, they will impede more airflow.

woo.. a lot of information here.
It's all the Korean brands now... how about the Jap brands and Novita?

Looking at the air purifiers gives me headache. didn't know that there's so many differentiation. (eg/ AP with Humidifier, AP with dehumidifier, AP that need not chg filters etc etc)

Any kind soul able to advise what to look out for?

Sharp? Reliable workhorse but cost a bit more, WussRedXLi got one unit running 9 years, still in service, no problemo

Novita? Local brand, OEM from China, personally think that it's overpriced

Just go with the vanilla flavour HEPA air purifiers.

Important metrics of APs are: CADR (clean air delivery rate) or air flow rate, noise, power consumption.
