Thanks bros for this informative thread, esp chuanz and WussRedXLi. Went out and hooted a Sharp A50 because I didn't want to wait for qoo10 shipping. Last minute hug buddha leg. Overall quite satisfied with the A50, but I think the AX40 is definitely more worth if you can tong the shipping time.

Was wondering though, after reading WussRedXLi and Ryu's experiences on mold growing on the humidifying wheel, (Post link: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/86061869-post1302.html) it seems like mold will grow even if you don't use the humidifying function, as long as you've used it at least once before? I've already used the humidifying function already, but I'm a bit lazy to clean the humidifying wheel all the time. (Will only deploy the A50 for haze period) Any bros know if I can prevent the mold from growing if I clean and dry the wick and wheel once, then never use the humidifying function again?

yes... u help clear the outside air... so need to switch on fan and close window and on AP

Not an expert, but CADR looks quite low for the price point. (Also 61dB at highest speed. Really loud man) Not sure what grade HEPA Philips is using but I guess should be at least 10, so probably good enough?

But this a bit bo bua. That price point can get > 350m^3/hr CADR easily.

Tell him you want the Sharp 180 机 HEPA.

Original is 30mm. You can ALWW and tell him to customse to 35mm depth.
30mm has very slight airflow drop. But it's basically H10 -> H11.5 upgrade, so no worries.

Pay 10% more and get 35mm depth. He can customise to 45mm as well, not sure if the FU-Z31 or your model can take it or not. But don't waste the money, 35mm is sufficient. Those who are anal and have budget, then maybe go 45mm depth.

The sides, just stuff up with some plastic wrapping paper that came with the HEPA or tissue paper, prevent bypass.

You will be in good hands, the stuff works. Measured before, at outlet, in-room performance etc. No worries.

How do I go about asking the seller to customize one for me cause I searched 日立 (Hitachi) and could not find it in his store

There is one selling on taobao for 458 chinese yuan but I am not sure if its original , 100 bucks for something not original is a bit risky.

1) ALWW the seller say want customise
2) dimensions: 360mm x 340mm x 43mm
3) cause one of my AP need the charcoal deodorizer
4) ALWW as for 竹炭除臭 360mm x 340mm x 2mm
5) Pay Money.
6) Install stuff the sides with cotton

We can actually use Taobao HEPA for haze period right.

I just threw away the wheel. Its meant to be replaced after some time.

You need to install aliwangwang and IM him in chinese. I think he might just know some english....never tried.

The bacteria/virus copies on the droplets spread via droplet infection will be collected on the HEPA, dried out in the airflow very fast and deactivated. Some strains like MSRA may live far longer, but still no worries.

Hospital ICU HEPAs and negative pressure infectious patient isolation rooms do not have UVC. Just a handful of portable models have UVC. The irradiance power/cm2 power of UVC needs to be really high and radiating on the whole filter media, that short 4W T5 or so is not going to cut it.

That is why N95 works for viruses like HxNx with rexommendation from CDC and CIDRAP etc. You filter the droplets which are much larger.

Currently I place the HEPA filter with the Front label facing the outside when I close the cover.

For the taobao hepa using PP media, no issue. Just follow the arrow and pinch tabs...else difficult to remove.

Other original manufacturer hepa are directional if they use borosilicate or PET media etc. Follow the instructions.
