Low cost way to dehumidify

I just bought the Sharp KC-A50E air purifier and I saw the humidity indicator at 80. I'm looking for cheap ways to lower humidity level in my room from 80 to say maybe around 50-60.

Heard from my friend that maybe lowering the room temperature will also lower humidity. I am not allowed to install aircon to the place I stay, and I do not want to buy a dehumidifier due to the high power consumption (saw a Novita model using 180w).

So, I'm thinking if I add cold water or even ice cubes into the water tank of my air purifier and let it emit cool air,
1) will it resulting in a lower room temperature?
2) if yes, will it also result in lower room humidity?
3) will it damage the air purifier of the filters inside?

one thing is don't really trust taobao seller.

dilemma between Amazon and Tabao.

But if buy from taobao.

AX40 Filter (specially customized for SG, buy 4 got discount): http://world.taobao.com/item/522668837488.htm?spm=a312a.7700714.0.0.d4JaZN#detail

Sharp A28E (Stock - 310*285*25) they sell 365*277*25, so just trim abit

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z0d.6639537.1997196601.14.7IhuYI&id=38909741084

then u can get original ones at their Authorised centre. Can call to find out stock and reserve filters. Can request delivery too.

Samsung ones just order from Qoo...

There u be assured and happy =:p

PS. Extreme right = live and neutral. Middle cable red white blue is to the motor (control wire also I guess or something). Right socket grey cable is to the touch panel controls.

Hi WussRedXLi,

I'm going to order from Qo10 today. Need your help on two simple questions, as you owned both LG Q379SB/P459WN and Samsung AX40.

1) On high fan, which one blows more air? Which one is quieter?
And what about low fan?

2) For the LG Korean model, is there an hidden option to turn off the ionizer?

Thanks!

Sharp KC-A50E
Plasmacluster Air purifiers with Humidifying functions

Water = increase humidity

Cooling the room to remove humidity only works for AIRCON.

Should you turn on high fan or your room slighly big, the humidity will be auto adjusted at around 70-50, just depend the times.

If your room indicated at around 80 that meant your room humidity too dry already.

For the LG washable HEPA, I guess there is no hard trying to wash. But in reality, you cannot wash it with a brush and it's not going to be effective since the PM is trapped way inside. You just use your shower and try to rinse it out. And not much PM would be rinsed out, coz you must remember that even high fan speed blowing through the filter won't dislodge the very very fine particles, such is the nature of HEPA media.

It's probably just a marketing gimmick that works mediocre at best, for 1 wash only. (not to say that it would not work). And probably the HEPA integrity would be slightly compromised after that, though still in a workable state.

The LG HEPA is physically constructed such that externally it is tougher than usually with an additional protective netting layer so that it wraps the actual HEPA media/fibres inside securely.

Just replace it, don't get a headache over it.

Other HEPAs, pls do not try to wash it. People have washed it and destroyed it.

there are videos n pic on people opening up their used filters
if u are replacing ur filters soon, u can open urs up as well.
u can understand from there why it should not be washed.

and for those marketed as washable, u are not directly washing/scrubbing at the hepa filter otherwise u would have damaged it.

Just curious: is "PSI" a pollutant or an index? Because I was browsing the AQICN site & somewhere there it says, "primary pollutant: PSI"...
