We customise coz I have done laser particle counter tests showing that customisation is very decent too as long as your AP unit has powerful airflow ie > 5 ACH in your room, way more than enough for regular folks with regular medical conditions. Customisation brings the filter replacement costs down to 1/4th to 1/20th the price of original filter. With multiple units, that really adds up.

... Now to find how and where to do it... :s8::s8::s8:

This Taobao customized filter, how well are the sides sealed to stop leak or bypass ... any closeup photos to see the workmanship?

Lately with the drop of SGD vs RMB and very slight price increase of the TB seller, I guess it's closer to 1/3 the price liao.

But it actually makes sense, I am sure a lot of the folks here are noticing that their filters are really starting to smell already with the past 4 weeks of very heavy load. By the end of this haze season, 100% need to discard 1 filter liao.

Just wondering, how many extra filters do u keep and when do you decide to order?

Just collected my Xiaomi AP
Saw a lot of people asking for opinion

This is the noise data compared to my Sharp A50.
All noise taken @ 1m distance

Xiaomi, Jet, High, Med, Low, Sleep.
Noise (dbA): 61, 54, 46, 44, 43
Flowrate m3/h: 406, 271*, 174*, 93*, 68*
*estimated

Sharp A50, High, Med, Low
Noise (dbA): 50, 44, 41
Flowrate m3/h: 306, 216, 60 (Published Spec)

Wow......this is good. At last, some real measurements.

I just order the 45mm in sets of 4.

But after that, I found out that the 25mm thick ones also can do, able to flow ard 240 m3/hr while drawing 19W. Hence I ordered even more of those for rough use during normal months.....at RMB 26 you can't go wrong as well.

240m3/hr in my small computer room of 3.4m x 2.7m x 2.9 = 9 ACH/air changes per hr. Deduct 15% coz of furniture and it rises to ~ 11 ACH.

Pros:
Cheap upfront cost.
Cheap original replacement filter.
Air quality sensor.
Can control remote as long as there is an internet connection.
Aesthetically pleasing.
Small footprint relative to same ap in class.

Cons:
Loud,
Needs wifi to control speed toggle button only available for 3 modes, jet, auto and sleep.
High power consumption relative Sharp/Samsung. (42W vs 75W max rated power)
A bit difficult to set up due to very basic instructions provided.

I saw a youtube clip comparing the noise measurement between balmuda and xiaomi ap.

No way do you take noise measure at the outlet.

Anyway xiaomi jet mode is loud but not as loud as a vaccum cleaner.

Can be used at medium speed (for high ACH) for bedroom if you have a working standing fan. Treat it as white noise.

The 25mm are fm the same seller as the customised Samsung AX40 filter or you're referring to the 30x30cm ones?
