Anyone pre-order the Novita air purifier from the website ?
Promotions | NOVITA

Wanted to put my name on the waiting list @ Robinsons coz I got some $100 worth of vouchers to clear, but looks like the rain + extensive cloud seeding doused the Riau hotspots (coz got rainclouds so they could seed extensively). So maybe next time coz I already have one for the MBR, this one is for my parent's place and also for the kids who will be there during day time. Now using the 3M Filtrete aircon filter there, good enough for the recent PM2.5 150 API episode.

So when the models all in stock, one of the better model is sharp a40?

Difficult to judge and say which is better lah.

It depends whether you just want to use intermittently during haze periods, use 12hrs a day from 7 to 7 so you need a workhorse, or you want the best cleaning power for living room w best bang for the buck without being concerned with the noise levels etc. Whether you need filter replacements cheaply and easily available also need to decide.

Sharp more for daily usage.

For those with the Sharp A28E, Sharp does sell the replacement filter.
Filter cost $44.94 and lead time estimated 6 to 8 weeks.

peat fire difficult to put out ones...

or they going to start a few more rounds this yr?

nobody know lah. But with global warming, i would bet on the weather becoming more unpredictable and more dry/wet spells.

Peat fire indeed is super unpredictable.

Malaysia got one large hotspot operation deemed to be completely extinguished. Water tanker there to blast and heli to water bomb. Bomb water until buay lin chu, they claim. But a few days later restarted. Foam and water extinguishment just don't work effectively for large peat fires.

If slightly dry weather persists (starting April) then the peat fire ambers deep beneath the ground just reignite, burn whatever new plants above, the ambers just fly over to other areas and restart without people knowing. Is very horrible one.

This year also very likely to be El Nino (dry for the SEA and Oceania region), just how severe it would be the meteorologists don't know.

Peat fires is basically need at the very least 1 week of super wet weather....like everyday rain 2hrs of heavy rain widespread. This is to soak the ground completely and not just 10-20mm of rain and the water stays there for the first metre or so....coz the peatlands got one protective layer one. Not the Sunday super wet weather but Monday - Wed isolated showers.

And with the current dry season, the water get from where for the fire fighters to use? Hence need to see the clouds etc.

But overall if got fire management, the problem is manageable. Esp to stop the farmers from burning, which I can guarantee won't stop despite Bambang's visit.

The 1997 haze (SG 236 PSI then) was also tied to El Nino that year.

Why not try hooting Sharp air purifier @tao bao ? They do delivery from JP to SG. Japan series and price are at least 30/40% cheaper as compared to local.. The only disadvantages are no local warranty and requires voltage transformer.

I understand your concerns.. Transformer do generates heat just like any other electric appliances. Can consider getting a reputable brands transformer from local stores !!

And ya, the Japan Sharp Mid/High end series have timer to power off the purifier.
