Air purifier?

People who use air purifier will close all the windows, right? If not the dirty air will just keep coming in. So does it mean air purifier should always be paired with aircon?

true but i still use my purifier in my living room (no windows) which occasionally open my balcony door

There is no timer mode. Just switch on in high speed (it's amongst the quietest out there for the moderately high airflow), or high speed for 1hr then throttle down to low speed after that.

There is no medium speed, unfortunately.

Yes, cannot open window. It's best not to open the door also. With my laser particle counter, leaving the door open (but windows are closed) still means quite a fair bit of pollutants seeping in.

Eg, outside is PM2.5 100 ug/m3. If you leave the door open but windows closed, it'd be say about 50 ug/m3 in the room? It'd "eat up" the HEPA quite fast also.


Earlier I mentioned that closing the windows but leaving the door open would work, so that it wouldn't get too warm. But now it doesn't seem to be that effective.

So can say aircon is die die must. Damn it's hot today.

This year is El Nino, moderate intensity bordering on a strong one.....from what I can see now. Don't play play.

Great airflow, make sure the tape is done up nicely.

Advantages??

2 filters with good surface area to trap particles.

Fan blades don't get dirty.

Best part, pricing is 1/4 of any conventional filter you buy with less surface area.

Naise.

Better to protect the HEPA with a pre-filter, else it'd get eaten up pretty fast.

I would not recommend the Xiaomi or the Cannon.

They way too loud at high speed.


Get a proper Samsung AX40 or LG LA-Q379SB.

Those who have been using air purifiers and air con, do you seal the gap at bottom of you door with those rubber strips that stick to the bottom of your door?

Moi scared if use those rubber strips, the bad air cannot escape from the room leh.

I have measured before. My Panasonic e-ion 9000 BTU/hr aircon did not make any noticeable dent in the PM2.5 levels in a small bedroom.

Safer to have some air flowing anyway, in case you have something in the room that is outgassing VOCs a bit.

HEPA only filters particulate matter. Activated charcoal takes care quite a fair number of things, but they do "wear out" over time.

I used not to sleep with aircon on and always have wet nose and need to purge out when awake but ever since now, I can feel the difference liao.

AX40 locally is AX41 and it's pricey. LG local model bro WRX managed to get one at good price during clearance sale, but otherwise only reasonably priced option is Qoo10.

Sorry, but my laser particle counter really did not pick up much of a difference in hazy conditions with the Panasonic ion aircon. It's these fine particulates that some groups are concerned about.

And trust me, it absolutely would not work in 2013/2014 or that 2015 NE SG affected by Tg Langsat landfill fire conditions to bring it below Unhealthy/Very Unhealthy/hazardous levels.

If one is in the susceptible grp like newborn/infants/medical issue etc....I don't think it's exactly advisable to leave it to such placebo effects anyway.
