got one akira ap-606c from bigbox yesterday at $149.

Got that Akira one as well. For a 40db air purifier at full power, surprising my room fan at low power is louder. Something is better then nothing.

Got that Akira one as well. For a 40db air purifier at full power, surprising my room fan at low power is louder. Something is better then nothing.

Use it in the small bedroom of a new BTO unit, should be ok.

Even the Sharp A28 medium speed is ok.

Keep the windows and doors shut properly, no issue.

Loud! Even at low speed, it is not quiet. Been using Honeywell APs for many years, so already get used to it. I have 2.

Effective. Workhorse. These days blasting 24x7 without any problem.

Power consumption can be higher than some APs. U may want to take note as well.

Not everyone can take the noise. I would suggest u go outlets such as Best Denki or any other local stores and listen to the noise to see if u can take it.

Can also try to search and read some WussRedXLi reviews on his recommended APs and compare.

Edit (for those who are interested):

That's how Honeywell HEPA filter looks like after using for months. Initially both outer and inner ring is white in color.

Eventually, the outer will turn black while the inner will still remain white. Of course u don't overuse it until inner ring also black. Haha.

Anyway, that's where the motor and fan will blow out the air. So, you can probably safely assume that the air been blow out is "clean".

Apart this HEPA filter, there's a prefilter to go round it, that's to capture furs, hairs, dust etc...not shown on pic.

Just sharing in case those really do not mind the noise level. Otherwise, go for other APs.

but i'll be glad to buy ur ax40 (if u get one) and wanna sell it after haze.

not that affected but we do get minimal dry eyes and a little dry throat, how negligible it's still a discomfort, so of course wish to at least get one to clean occasionally mainly and most importantly, since we can't run or work out in public, I want to clean my living room so we can do our home work outs in clean air~ can't afford to slack on fitness just because of the haze

waaa buy my AX20~~~ haha I'll be receiving it soon and I wanna sell it as soon as it reaches. I'm sure there are people who don't mind a smaller AX40 at $234? T__T (the depth is 160mm+ compared to AX40 200mm+) any tips where to sell it fast? gumtree?

but really, if I use the AX40 for only a week you don't mind to buy it?
