AX40 just arrived. Strangely, airflow seems to be the same or even slightly less than my older AX37.

There also one other anomaly which I hope other AX40 owners can verify and confirm - the air output is blowing from the vents at quite a significant angle to the perpendicular of the front of the unit. That means if I am standing directly facing the unit, the airflow does not hit me but to the left of my body, say, 35-45 degrees to my left.

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks.

(1) I measured the airflow with a anemometer and used online calculator, it's low 300s m3/hr thereabouts confirm.

(2) Yes, it veers to the left a bit.

All are true HEPA H13 grade. Might not be H13 if DOP tested, but even for a H10/E10 filter, it's more than good enough even if using for a high stroke risk/heart patient if the ACH/CADR is sized correctly.

I posted before, the diff between a AX40 and IQ Air Healthpro 250 is 35 mins and 28 minutes for a 1000 ug/3 -> 1 ug/m3 drop in a 30 cubic metre room. With 323 m3/hr and 439 m3/hr airflow specs. Using cigarette smoke source, meaning 0.1 to 0.5 microns PM. PM0.1 - PM0.5

thinking whether to bulk buy some taobao filters to keep so standby so can switch on the AP 24/7
just it up in the room and ran it till led turns green, once step out of the room kena choke by the chaota smell :s22:

Just now West and South got hit by Very Unhealthy levels. West duration smoke = 5 hrs. Peaked at 1hr PSI 252 / AQI 252 if you want an index figure.

Graphics.

PM2.5 hourly concentration levels converted to 1-hr PSI, to give you an idea on the index value

Just got a novita 501 from GAB for $265. Hope my kids can sleep more comfortably from now. The haze is making their sensitive airways go into overdrive.

Put it into High when it's slightly hazy. When it gets over 1-hr 70 ug/m3 for your region, put into Turbo.

Do not use Med or Low.

Thanks! I think my unit should be fine then.

If you want approx. 7% boost in airflow (will be a wee bit noisier)....just use a penknife to cut at the black masking tape part. Not the black PU foam part. The foam is the HEPA seal, to prevent bypass.

Take out the AC filter portion and keep in plastic bag.

Just use the HEPA for haze filtration. You will be able to use the AC filter later, all depends on your choice.

Anybody has the English manual for Samsung Ax40? Where to download?

10char.....

Just for reference, and if anybody else wondering when getting your spanking new AX40 and found that everything in the documentation is in Korean.

Buttons from left to right:
First four is touch buttons: On/off; Speed selection; VirusDoctor On/off (single touch) + filter change reset (hold a few secs); Child lock (hold a few secs)
Last four is speed indicator: Auto; High; Low; Sleep

Lights on the On/off touch button also functions as air quality indicator: blue, green, yellow, red (something like that)

VirusDoctor is Samsung's fancy name for ionizer function, default is OFF.

Just full blast all the way, can't hear a single thing :s22:

Since the chart is already there, I just do some annotation. This is to illustrate WussRedXLi's response to this question:
"What happens after I switched off my AP but keep my windows closed?"

ipSRlD4.png

hehehe..... windows closed + doors closed, AP off. Took 7 hours to rocket from single digits ug/m3 to nearly 100 ug/m3. But external concentration must be there of coz, the high it is, the faster rate it would rocket.

I'll be bold to do this shout-out. I mentioned before when people asked me, but now Chuanz has kindly supplied the raw data.

Chuanz, don't mind me....I repost in AP thread.

This also shows that the NEA and MOH advice of closing windows + doors / switching on Air-conditioning does not really work. Not at current levels and durations.

In the past, I always thought hiding indoors and close all windows and doors I would be fine... Seems like not the case!
