My Samsung fridge manual instructs to soak the active carbon for 15mins and dry in the sun.

bro, you're right - it's a fridge where activated carbon's purpose is not to soak up evil stuff but bawoo :)

different from the same material's function in AP

I'd say to avoid Astrobile too!

Took their time resending a missing filter and failed to provide tracking no. despite repeated enquiries. :(

You all think vacuum cleaner with water filtration vs those with bags or those hepa would be better to clean air purifier filter?

I think there are water filtration vacuums with HEPA filters for the air outlet, otherwise smaller particles can still escape.

Maybe depending on the design of the AC layer, wonder if it's possible to DIY and reuse it. E.g., Slice open the top and reseal after replacing the spent AC with new AC? *Shrug*. Can get AC from aquariums.

its possible if you can reseal it effectively. Maybe use a heatgun? The more powdery the activated carbon the more effective it is.

Talking about sunning Activated carbon, it should still be done whenever possible as part of maintenance and extend life of the ac filter, get rid of "sour" smell if any. Vacc will help in some way too for maintenance.

I put charcoal in my drinking water, boil once for initial use. Boil another time in 1.5 months time before discarding it to condition soil for my plants by the 3rd month. Else just throw in shoe cabinet to max out its lifespan. But this is only for activated charcoal use in water. Aquarium enthusiast do boil their AC too to extend ac usage slightly.

Starting to get sick of those who recommend products even though they don't have a particle counter to justify them. For anyone interested in buying any APs, please read the recommendations from WRX to be safest.

P.S. Semi tested Airvax and Go-Clair, against B4 (laser particle counter) and I do not recommend them.

I was quite interested in go-clair. I suspect it doesn't have large enough airflow since it's so small, but it will be interesting if you can post some data.

Just saying "tested and not recommend" doesn't help.

Since it uses way lesser energy, like 5W for their flagship model on max speed, plus a 35db, the trade off is exactly that. The best way to test it will be to enclose it inside a room for 24 hours and test it against whichever model you have that's HEPA.

Off the top of my head, since its 5W, it's ideal to run it 24x7, and keep the door closed most of the time to keep optimum. Compared to larger airflow HEPA, it has to be switched on high everytime you are in the room, and ideally 8 to 12 hours.

5W x 24 hours = 120W
35W x 8 hours = 280W

Which is why i also do not agree with the "it doesn't work" comments without data.

Yes I agreed.

The world has more than just AX40 albeit it is quite readily available from qoo10.

Based on the figure assuming 99.9% efficiency cadr is 180m3/h at max speed which is pretty decent.

But at such low wattage, I dare to say that the air outlet speed is low and too low to prevent short circuit. Ap must also be powerful enough to circulate the clean air around the room.

Actually how many input were not so important than human healthy.
Get lesser sick you are easily earn back from the medical fee.
