I hope it will last, my previous two wireless earphones, Jabra and Plantronics, did not last very long. Both weren't exactly cheap either! So I don't consider $238 expensive if it works flawlessly and long lasting.

Got mine an hour back and loving it. Charging is crazy fast compared to other well known brands.(duh, small battery and stuff I know). Pairing took four seconds, using double tap for play/pause as I find it better. Also, sound quality is slightly better than the Earpods(has bass now compared to none). Doesn't fall out for me but I do hope Apple add more gestures than just double tapping for siri.

It seems to be that way after numerous calls to various outlets and according to some updates over here.

And it is a 6 weeks wait for online store.

I would guess that's due to a combination of seasonal demand and probably some production issues. Foxconn should be able to produce tens of thousands a day of such a tiny device.

I never had any good impression on Apple's earphones/EarPods on having good sound quality, but not sure about the AirPods as still pretty skeptical.

A few months back I purchased the Earin earbuds and I was quite impressed by the sound quality, despite its tiny size, single-BA driver and 2+hrs batt life (I know it's on the low side). It doesn't have a mic so it fits me as I only just listen to music and not on marathon sessions, and it costs me over $300 then.

So sound quality is important to me and I know the EarPods/AirPods cannot deliver the isolation that other in-ears can, but the batt does indeed last longer. Given the limitation of wireless earphones, some features will just have to make do, and $238 for the AirPods isn't really expensive.

Apple products are never perfect. It's a matter of buying the product with the least compromise. And that is subjective to everyone's preference.

I never have any intention of buying AirPods and neither have I used the EarPods that came with my iPhones, I always used my customs and recently the Earin.

I love Apple products but not on their earphones as sounds is quite basic, and the initial earphones practically do not have any sound caps. If I'm a casual listener, then the EarPods/AirPods will make do.

i got my airpods yesterday (online order)

1. Earpods fits me perfectly. Airpods exactly the same. It feels very secure in my ear and it doesn't feel like it will drop off even if I'm running.

2. I prefer in-ear headphones. The airpods doesn't have sound isolation (obviously), it's louder than earpods but still a little soft for me. With earpods, I set my volume to 90%. With other IEM I was using previously, I set it to 60% loud. With airpods, it's between 70-80%. Sound wise, I think it's alright. I wish it was a bit on the clearer side.

3. Phone calls, people can hear me clearly. I tried in a quiet area and the receiver said there was echo but no other issue.

4. The double tap is a pain. I don't like it. Had to tap quite hard.

5. Connecting to iPhone, super ultra easy. Open the case, click connect. When you are listen to music, take 1 pod out and it pause, put it back to play. Take out both and music stops and have to play again on phone or double tap on airpods (depends on settings).

6. Gets weird stares from people in the bus/train.

7. Wireless was more awesome than i thought. No more entangled cables, No more cords caught by people's bag and yanking your headphone jack out on a packed train.

I think it is very expensive! But it's very high tech if you look into it. It's not for everyone but if you want to be futuristic, it's definitely something for you.
