I really dont think you should bother making a report...its as good as gone. For something so small...even if you can track its location to a field of 5 meters also cannot locate one.

If you lost it completely, just buy a new set. If you lost just either side, approach Apple and they may just be able to sell you that missing side.

yes replacement fee for 1 AirPod is $98 iirc.

Dip cotton bud with cleaning alcohol or water then just clean the case and AirPods

I clean mine with microfiber cloth after every use. Earwax at the seams can be removed via cotton swab or a damp tissue rolled to a pointed tip.
