Haha, too many big flyers here.. I shy.

Anyway, anyone have AK120 modded?

I am also interested to have it modded, I read that Mezzo is less intrusive in terms of alterations in the physical out look as compared to Red Wine.

Which mod are you considering? Im more interested with the Mezzo mod.

Go for the mezzo mod because. U can still use it as a stand alone player as compared to red wine. Was a rwak120b user
One more issue with old 120 is that. The sd card issue. At times it wil suddenly hang. And once it's 'unhanged' the sd card will be gone. Need to remove and plug it back. Kind if troublesome. It's quite a known issue

Oic, thanks for the advise, will go read up more on the mezzo mods as the price to mod is pretty wow, read: expensive lol.

The Mezzo Soprano mod while similar to the RWAK120-B mod in the sense that the DACs are upgraded from WM8740 to WM8741, I would say Mezzo Soprano has done a good job with the following:

1. Install an additional micro-controller to the WM8741 to let it run in the software mode (allows attenuation of output stage and selection of digital filters) and replacing the default click wheel volume knob with a potentiometer volume knob that is hardwired to the micro controller.

2. Do the same resistor bypass for the amplifier output stage, output impedance is less than 1 Ohm

3. Replace optical input socket with a 3.5mm TRRS balanced output (hardwired to DAC output stage, serves as a true balanced line out but due to attenuation ability, you can connect a balanced terminated iem/ciem to the balanced output)

So you get:

1. Upgraded DAC for a significantly better sound.
2. Volume control for both headphone output and balanced lineout
3. Selector switch for choosing 2 of the 3 different digital filters of the WM8741

Although the Mezzo Soprano mod is pretty awesome to let the AK120 run as a stand-alone DAP and as a source, I was looking forward to the Glove Audio A1 for the AK100 & AK120.

Wonder what happened to the development of it, haven't read anything new on forums, even though CEntrance begins shipping in September 2014.

Yeah, into Mezzo mod, too, because I don't wanna pair it with an amp for portable sake :s13::s13:

Glove sounds good, that means using AK100 is more worth it? Haha, because you're just gonna use it as a player..

The price of the Glove Audio is only a bit less than the MSAK120 modification and you still get to retain the portability of the player if you go for the Mezzo Soprano mod. Around the same price as the RWAK120-B mod but you get more features.

Considering the labour required, its worth it.

Demo units are available anyways.

Did you try it with the Fitear customs that you are interested in? Just to make sure there's good synergy. :)

Haha no cause I cannot afford to buy such an expensive dap atm. The synergy between 435 and my ak120 is good though.
