We can pay RMB on TAOBAO if we have RMB in the account. so we can have better exchange rate, TAOBAO and Alipay accounts are the same.

does that mean that the credit card exchange rate is better than the money changer rate? how is that possible ? i thoguht that the credit cards usually charge lower exchange rates ?

I just used it and called my credit card customer service. I was charged SGD199 for CNY1K. Effectively, the exchange rate is 5.028.. which is lower than 5.171 you can get from Clifford centers' money changers.

Consider it 3% service charge.

Did you read at all? After 90 days, the remainder is refunded.

Search for tour pass in the alipay app and proceed to add your local credit card to top up into the alipay account.

I manage to put in 600RMB with exchange rate of 5.18 using Youtrip and also manage to use the credit to subscribe to youku tv which i wasn't able to previously.

registered and top up 100 RMB via Grabpay Card. tried to top up 500 RMB more using the same card but the app says status failed even though I have sufficient balance in my Grabpay account.

how did you manage to get 5.18 exchange rate? i topped up with my credit card and only able to get credit card exchange rate of around 5.05.

Very simply, provide your YouTrip Mastercard details in TourPass, under Card Info.

i have loaded 100cny to my Tour Pass using my SG credit card previously. How do i change it to my new youtrip debit card once i get it? i cant seem to make amendment to my bank card at the 'load money' screen on my TP App.

Same problem I faced here. I am unable to de-link the YouTrip account I used, to change to another card.

And how do they differentiate between funds you top up (cannot transfer between friends) and funds transferred to you by someone with a China bank card (can transfer between friends)?

Take note this is different from the normal Alipay balance, I believe you can not get funds transferred from other friends with proper China Alipay account. It is a "PrePaid Card at Bank of China, valid for 90 days".

If you are still able to top up from funds transfer (by right you can not without linking to a China bank card) then continue to use that method.

My friend has the same issue as me too. Still can't work after many tries.

Actually I believe we can get funds transferred from someone with a proper China alipay account even without us having a China bank account. I tried with my friend whose funds came from someone in China, just add as friend then press the RMB icon beside chat box to transfer, need to verify face then I can receive.

Another issue I have concern with is tour pass only works with merchants, not sure if there will be cases where I need to pay someone who is not a merchant in China, anyone got experience in this while travelling in China?


edit: topping up works now

to make things clearer:
- the balance in tour pass is for the alipay bank of shanghai prepaid card and is non transferable to other users, only can use to pay merchants
- there is another balance under me > balance, the funds here must come from within china ie. someone with a china bank account, this is transferable between users and is what people on carousellers are selling, apparently no need china id to receive unlike wechat pay

can't seem to activate the tourpass function. i'm getting this msg: "this service is available to selected users only"

Update: managed to solve the problem by logging out and then logging in again. you will be prompted to use the international version and to enter a new password. this issue likely only for existing account holders.
