Lol I only buy when graphics card spoil. Also I don't understand the benchmark wars that have been going on for so long. Nvidia is probably going to optimize their drivers for this anyway.

Oh and Rise of the Tomb Raider DX11 vs DX12 argument? Moot. Already completed it and was really great.

Just plug and play. Don't plug and run benchmarks. Boring.

Lol then when they done optimizing it. They will re run it again, and all the green fans will be like :"woah! All hail Nvidia" lol.

Intel still the best. No one will bother to comment on the strengths or the failings of the Intel iGPU. :D

Because numbers attract people. Quantifiable and relates to people

If not how nvidia/AMD fool people to upgrade perpetually :s13:

Not for DX12/Vulkan.

Its a hardware implementation issue rather than drivers. AMD and Nvidia hardware designs are fundamentally different. In short, DX12/Vulkan largely benefit from AMD's hardware implementation. Thats why AMD hardware sees such a big jump from DX11 to DX12.

Check out tomshardware on AoS, espl the CPU bottleneck. Now Nividia is incurring alot more CPU overhead.

You can google around about DX12, Async shader etc.... Thats why AMD was so desperate to get features of DX12 implemented that they even went to create their own API (Mantle).

This doom game is dx12 optimized? If yes, why no amd/nvidia mix? Dx12 allows mixing of cards.

It depends, if its like 85 vs 90fps, the 5 fps means nothing. But if its 35 vs 40fps, it means alot.

If you have been following AoS, you will realise why async shader and DX12 is such a big deal.

I completely agree on the async shader. Completely forgot about that. And you make a great point on the 5 Fps in terms of relativity.

A review from tom's showing how AMD cards edge of Nvidia: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...ute-multi-adapter-power-consumption,4479.html

Though tbh, if you are having 30-35 fps, I would recommend going down one notch in the quality settings anyway.

It's considered the baseline until nobody gives a fug about it. Either there is something showing on the monitor or there is a blank screen with no signal, that's how people judge Intel iGPU. :o

Can really see how Nvidia epic fail in DX12 :(

OK lar, I wouldn't say epic fail. But its just that Maxwell/Kepler is not designed for DX12/Vulkan unlike GCN. So it will not really benefit from DX12.

Btw, AMD really surprise me this time. To think that GCN back in 2011 is already designed to cater for something that will only come out in 2016.

Back in 2011, I don't even know what is DX12 and never heard of async shader and graphics command processor lol....

7970 was really way ahead of its time. Sadly no one uses the features even when it become obsolete. Then pple kpkb about AMD rebadging its GPUs and no innovation etc.... Performance also suffers under DX10/11. Then AMD became desperate and release mantle API to encourage developers to utilise GCN features, with limited success only.

At least know with vulkan and DX12, GCN's potential is finally released and AMD can see daylight.

the way i also look at this is: how much performance upgrades will you get with optimization. DX12 helps optimize AMD cards which is great but in the real world, there are only 2 situations.

1. Now if the performance is grossly different. This begs the question of why didnt DX12 come out sooner and why neither Nvidia/AMD/Devs utilized async early if the performance boost was that great. And given such a scenario, you will expect Nvidia to rush a redesign of their Pascal based cards to incorporate this.

2. If the performance is not so different, the only real people who would get excited are the enthusiasts. Because these are the guys who push OC with watercooled systems and love to see large numbers at UHD. A hardcore gamer is more concerned with his K:D and FPS to bother whether his graphics is set to Medium or Medium Low I would imagine. And if your FPS is already low to begin with, it's probably time to consider an upgrade in cards or a downgrade in graphic modes

Well so easy Nvidia just need to pay the makers $$$$.

1mth later, the numbers will be reversed. AMD suddenly all cards less 5-10fps.

Ultimately, this Nvidia vs AMD thing means jack if the real problem isn't addressed. The real problem the way I see it is the way Developers have been optimizing games for the consoles but not for PCs.

See, the consoles have been playing games with a GPU so **** that when a PC equivalent is plugged into a PC, the game might not even run.

This ultimately means that in order to run games the way games should be run we need to overkill on GPU power. Consoles however, get to keep their crap GPUs for 5 years or more whilst still being able to play the latest and newest titles. If the Devs can do that on a console, you would think a PC would be cakewalk no?

Perhaps this is a title that Nvidia is not too concerned about, so they did not work with them to optimize the game for their own benefit like most titles out there.

As we move towards DX12 slowly, we start to see cracks appearing on Nvidia's camp. The cards seems to be optimized for power efficiency at the expense of it not being able to fully support DX12 features(until they can prove otherwise with a driver release).
