USB4 will be more important.
All desktop users can connect cable if need low latency and faster internet, but if the USB is not 4, you cant do anything about it.
yes could be why amd and mobo decided to use one gen5x4 for usb4 with 800 series board. most wont need gen5 ssd, 2 is more unlikely. but those need, should go with x670e
800 series is low effort refresh, amd could have use gen5 downstream to a new prom22 chipset and connect the usb4 chipset through here, make use of all gen5 lanes with am5 cpu!
but amd is greedy and evil now! pray for Arrow Lake fight back!

Whether it is the total number of PCIe lanes or just the PCIe lanes provided by the CPU, the result is still the same.
yes will have difference, with x800 boards, you have to be mindful where you insert your nvme ssd to prevent pcie sharing with gpu.
gen5x8 = gen4x16 for gpu, so result is same here, unless blackwell comes with gen5.
