Hopefully Dr Chee can win one day, hopefully soon. He deserves his day in parliament and hopefully not have to suffer the same disappointments as his seniors Mr JBJ and Mr Tang suffered.

Last time become opposition member really is no joke one, kana sued/bankrupt/jailed, etc. If you fight them head on like JBJ, TLH and Francis Seow, etc. they will fix you jialat one.

The only reason why LTK and CST survived so long, is because they got no threat and also did not openly challenge PAP. Also the fact that they managed their constituency well.

Well CST was proven to be of no threat, and he never really had much ambition too after he fell out with Wong Hong Toy and the rest.

LTK stayed low whilst waiting for the right opportunity to strike (GE 2011) Looking back they probably regret not fixing LTK back before Internet/Social Media era. The AHTC was the best they can come up with.

They probably did Not expect that WP grew to the stature it did now, when though WP only has around 10% of the seats but at least they somewhat still have the power to bring to attention NTUC Income-Allianz deal and Minimum Wages (which PAP later repackage it as PWM), etc.

LTK was biding for his time. In the hopes that PAPaya's choice of talents will start to deteroriate and self implode. It's a matter of time the old man will uplorry and his aura will dissipate.

He spent half of his lifetime to help achieve what WP it is today. It was an uphill battle.

Younger generation don't know how PAPaya ministers and MPs talk then. Opposition MPs were humiliated, suan and looked down by the arrogant PAPaya in parliament sesssions. 10 times worse than what Canto Tan did to LMW.

Back then majority of the wards are uncontested which resulted in walkover victories. No chance to take your frustration out at the ballot box even! LOL!

Yes you are right, unforeseen circumstances 1 thing but also allow for regular rotation of power is good too. Think 10 years -13 years (by 2030 GE) as Sect-Gen should be enough liao.

Perhaps Sect-Gen seat should rotate every 5-10 years (every 5 years hold a vote amongst party members) to determine the new Sect-Gen.

Later become like JBJ, where he was Sect-Gen from 1971 to 2001. CSJ did the right thing by starting to groom SDP's successors now. From the looks of it, it seems to be Ariffin Sha as he is quite well-liked by the SDP's senior cadres.
