don't install any browser. mibox is limited RAM, browser take up too much ram even you don't run it. it will make your box laggy.

but I want to download my VPN .cert onto it. Right now I have no way of doing so. So far no lag yet despite having puffin installed though.

Usually you do not need to use browser. You download from your PC or mobile phone and then transfer to the box if necessary (to side load other apps).

But you can still use apps like "Downloader" from AFTVnews to do that.

Root is the worst thing you want to do on Mi Box S.

so it can load thumb drive? I havent try it yet. I will try it on the following week.

Thank you.

1) Nvidia Shield TV 2019 Pro, Dolby Vision, HDR10, Dolby Atmos, DTS X, etc.
https://androidpctv.com/review-nvidia-shield-tv-2019-opinion

2) Dedicated brand like Zidoo, for example Zidoo Z9X, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos and DTS X.
https://androidpctv.com/review-zidoo-z9x-opinion/

Yesterday I was just thinking Zidoo (again) come out w/ another Z9 series TV box (Z9X) -- that rival the Nvidia Shield in terms of cost.

Today (16/9), Bro Xiaofan already (started to) share link(s) to it. Shows how much you're in to hardware. Haha..

Hi any cheap and good box that is able to stream 4k remux with HDR? Currently stuck kodi on lousy box(dad got scammed at SLS) 100mbps port and keep buffering. Tried Plex on my Samsung TV also same problem limited to 100mbps, impossible to stream remux ATM. Looking for a cheap and solid upgrade

The original query was to ask for "cheap and good box ..stream 4k remux with HDR..." -- but you recommended two (2) of the most expensive TV boxes !! :)

Yes, we naturally expect better video & audio support in higher/highest cost TV boxes.

Unfortunately, in this case...

Dolby vision and HDR 10+.

The request was for support for both HDR formats: Dolby Vision & HDR10+

Unfortunely (in this case), the Nvidia Shield can't apply -- cos the Nvidia Shield supports Dolby Vision but don't support HDR10+ !!

Currently, the Nvidia Shield can support HDR10 -- but don't support HDR10+ -- don't ask me why, go ask Nvidia.

See a thread on Nvidia Web site that laments that fact that the Nvidia Shield don't support HDR10+:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforc...u-in-for-nvidia-to-add-hdr10-with-the-next-u/

A more recent (2020 Jul, less than 3mths ago) -- Nvidia Shield review below -- also states that the Nvidia Shield don't support HDR10+
https://www.lifewire.com/nvidia-shield-tv-pro-review-4843544

BTW, while we're still on the subject of Nvidia Shield + HDR...

Do you know that the Nvidia Shield don't support Youtube HDR ?!?

Yup, the Nvidia Shield -- (widely regarded as) King of TV boxes -- don't support HDR when using it to watch Youtube.

This is supposedly because even the (latest) 2019 Nvidia Shield don't have VP9 profile 2 support.

Yes, many other (cheaper) TV boxes have Youtube HDR support -- but not on the Nvidia Shield.

Why?!? Don't ask me why, go ask Nvidia.

Who doesn't want to watch Youtube in as high quality as possible? ;)

See threads below discussing the lack of Youtube HDR support on the Nvidia Shield:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAndr...the_2018_shield_tv_support_youtube_in_hdr_if/
https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAndr...youtube_hdr_is_working_on_ps4_pro_why_not_on/

So this means, you can watch (up to) Youtube 4K 60fps but NOT Youtube 4K 60fps HDR -- on the Nvidia Shield.

Also from your reply,
You seems to imply that -- you're using a 2019 Samsung QLED TV to watch both Dolby Vision & HDR 10+ contents.

May I know what is your (exact) TV model?

Maybe my knowledge is limited -- but I'm not aware of any 2019 Samsung QLED TV that supports both HDR formats: Dolby Vision & HDR 10+

It seems to me Samsung still does not support Dolby Vision yet, only HDR10 and HDR10+.

Hard to follow now more and more new terminologies for better video quality. DV, HDR, HDR10+ etc.

Just using my eyes and not knowing much about technology, my view is OLED is still what I prefer. Sometimes new features are meant to justify higher prices or newer models to introduce.

My T95 tv box gets quite hot even with normal use (~80 Celsius) but it cools down to 60 Celsius with a cooling fan.

Turns out the 5v 2a power adapter/plug gets super hot too. I am thinking of getting a replacement plug with Safety Mark in Sim Lim.

Anyone has experience in getting a replacement power adapter/plug? Or can recommend where to buy cheap power adapter?

PS: Going through intense regret from getting this box. It's price is okay but would suggest anyone to think twice before buying this box.

use a 2A handphone charger, buy a cable so that you can plug to the box.

make sure the connector to your box has right size
e.g.

Is the box with Allwinner H616 CPU and with Android 10?

If yes I will actually suggest you give up the box, bite the bullet and buy a better quality box, say Mi Box S, or Minix NEO T5, unless you can mod the box with better heat sink.

Or if you still want to buy low cost no brand generic box, then at least buy S905X3 based like A95X F3 Air. They do not have thermal issues.

Yes it is. Although its not as expensive as a Minix or Mi Box I don't really want to give up a brand new $45 box. The only problem I am facing is that the plug generates a lot of heat and if it can be solved by getting a $1 dollar usb to dc cable I think its still okay.

Just posting my buyer's remorse story here as a warning to anyone considering this box.

Get a S905X3, I have 1 running at home and it runs cool with no external cooling.

It's about the same price as the Allwinner.

Same here, very satisfied with my S905X3-based A95X F3 Air. It remains cool even after 5 hours straight use.
