Your first unit needs to be connected by lan. The second unit needs to be in the line of sight with the first unit. You can't expect full performance when you close your room door right?

Hmm then thats gonna be a problem since there is no LOS once bedroom door is closed. Perhaps i should just stick to the Asus AC88 in living room as router & AC68 in my bedroom as repeater?

Hmm never really noticed. So i guess singtel mesh would be the way to go but hopefully the performance will be reasonable even without LOS as i can imagine almost everyone sleeps in an aircon room with door closed.

My daughter's room is getting very weak signal around 2-3Mbps. After installing the Mesh, she's getting around 70Mbps now even without LOS and with door closed.

The 1st unit is connected via LAN to the router 5m away, the 2nd unit is 5m away from the 1st unit with no LOS.

Extremely happy with this product.

What speed plan are u on? 70 mbps sounds kinda slow though for me i guess is ok cos i only use wifi for my iphone. When im using my imac im connected directly via RJ45 port.

if its a 2x2 wireless N device, its considered normal. the important point here is the jump from 3mbps to 70mbps, not 70mbps alone. :D:D

I'm on 1Gbps. Sorry guys, it's Mbps and not mbps :D

She's using 1st Gen iPad Mini which is only 2x2 wireless N, whereas I'm able to get about 300Mbps on my iPad Pro (3x3 wireless AC) on the AirTies. If my iPad Pro is connected to the ASUS AC87U, I'm able to get >540Mbps.

Hmm so it seems the router still provides faster speeds than singtel mesh.

The reason why the router is faster is because it's AC2400 whereas the mesh is only AC1600.
I guess ultimately its still coverage that matters but if the router is able to reach the areas of the house that matter then its fine but if not then no choice, need to put up with slower speed if need the mesh to reach the required areas.

I just installed the WiFi mesh today. And I was told that my recording set top has to be in the living room to be connected directly to my AC1900 router and not in my room which was the intended set up when I subscribe to Singtel TV. Anyone can prove otherwise? Or is there a way to bypass the system and move the recording set top to my room and still work? Thank you very much.

your recording set top box should still be able to work on wifi mesh.

However the quality and performance of the singtel tv will be dependent on the signal quality from the wifi mesh though. I guess that is what the technician is implying.

Maybe I wasn't too clear. I have 2 set top boxes. 1 recording and 1 non-recording. When I was at the road show, the guy told me the recording set top can be installed over in my room using wifi mesh since I dun have any wired connection for the Singtel tv there.
Then when the technician came to install, I told him I want the recording set top box to be in the room and he says cannot because the recording set top must be connected to the AC1900 router since it's running on some special software...that got me lost.
I plan to move the recording set top to my room first thing in the morning to see if it works. Cause the set top in my room is connected to the AC1900 via wifi mesh. I dun see any reason why the recording set top won't work on my room.

exactly, i don't think anything is different apart from a built in HDD for the recording set top box. do try and update us here.

however, i have my doubts on the quality of video recorded because wireless platform will never be as stable as wired platform. so for me i usually put media devices on wires and non media devices on wireless..

Just an update. I swopped over the 2 set top boxes and they work fine. But I haven't got the chance to watch a recoding yet. Will do so over the weekend. But so far quality wise I dun see any difference in the picture quality whether it's in the room or otherwise.
I can't believe the Singtel technician was misinformed about the requirement to connect the DVR set top direct to the Router. Even when he called HQ, they advise him too that the dvr has to be connected to the router. Bummer.

I managed to record something today. I am glad to say that there wasn't any freeze frames or hiccups on playback. I guess its all about the quality of the signal during the streaming.

You can also use the wifi mesh tgt with other wireless activities, like wifi download and all these.

The wifi mesh itself has built in qos to prioritise singtel tv activity in times of intensive wifi traffic.

The only time wifi mesh breaks down is due to extreme heat. I placed mine at a location where the sunset ray was shining directly upon for several days when there was intended wifi activity then it over heated and broke down.

So make sure it's placed at somewhere cool..

Thanx. Appreciate the heads up.

In 7 days I have used Singtel TV, I have to turn off the power supply twice to recover from intermittent signal. Is that normal for Singtel TV? I called Singtel the first time I have the signal lost msg and they told me to turn off the power supply to the router as its "overloaded". They even suggested to turn off the power supply once a week to let the router "rest". I call BS. Anyone suffer the same issue?

you are currently using singtel wifi mesh to provision singtel tv right?

in that case, the intermittent signal loss could be due to the wireless environment. have you scanned the environment and choose the best channel and ensure surrounding has no DECT phones/microwave/CRT tv etc?
