Well, I guess you can search and download the file on exemptions for poly students from UQ website according to the respective faculties. Cos for biotech students or students gg to pursue life sciences, you can actually get it from bacs website. Normally for students having A and B grades average, they can get up to 2 yrs exemptions. The max is 2 yrs exemptions cos u need at least 16 units or 1 yr to grad from UQ.

Perhaps u can try UNSW or Monash as their engineering course are pretty sound. Not so sure abt UQ.

so u can get a degree just after 3 years of poly + 1 year in aust? thats pretty fast

more exemption better ma. shorter duration and pay lesser also. got such thing as 1 1/2 years
exemption ? if my GPA 2.5 can get 2 years exemption, then what about those ppl with GPA of 3
and above.
More exemptions meant that they expect you to know your poly stuff really well. Frankly speaking, your 3 years in poly does not account for the two years in universities cos their context and detail they go into the core modules are much more than in poly. You'll struggle very badly if your foundations in poly are very weak, unless your expectations at the end of the degree is just a pass. I am just speaking on my account for engineering courses. Other courses might not apply in this above scenario.

There is only 2 years max exemptions for poly graduates crossing over to Australian universities. I don't see any employers trusting the creditablity of your degree if it is only done in one year. I, for one will definitely question myself why a poly student in local university takes 3 years to complete a similar degree to a overseas student who can complete it in 1.

Bachelor of science degree can be completed in one year after 3 years in poly. But I am not sure what they'll end up as.

If you're thinking that flunking in australian universities is a joke cos it sounds ridiculous, try applying and entering to top courses like engineering, law and medicine here and you'll know that even with hard consistant work throughout the semester, sometimes you do not get what you want at the end.

Law and Med have high requirements unlike Engineering that grant adv standing easily (from what I gather here).

wonder if admission committee keep a record on those that flunk out of Uni, perhaps they can do something about it. or STATS shows ppl from poly with Low GPA did extremely well thus grant lots of adv standing then make perfect sense.
if treat us like cash cow and mislead ppl by offering a good deal up front, but in real life struggle like hell or DaBao a yr.. then wouldn't giving fewer adv standing make sense? of course it might deter international students from going there..

PhD? I know that the PhDs can start at any time .

I have to start in Queensland by Jan because I am sponsored by one of the queensland agencies to look at their data. My proposal will take about 2 months to formulate based on what they have and then its PhD time in UQ. If I do not succeed - it becomes Permanent head Damage.

study 1 yr get honours and go home?
1 year honors is after you complete the main bachelors with the 2 year exemptions. Makes 2 years instead.

And to get into honors - you have to score an average of 70% weighted average. Some universities offer honors if you get a 65% average. To attain 1st class honors- you have to score 80% in the whole honors year. If you hit 2nd lower or below , it is not worth a single cent. Not sure how they actually do it with advanced standing bachelors.

Is always good to get into honors yr if u intend to do research or aim for higher pay. Well, i have friends who grad from UQ with just a basic degree and they managed to find a job pretty fast. Theirs is a 1 yr degree. Moreover, if u have relevant job experience plus yr basic degree from UQ, i guess you can still find a job.
